Te Akau Singapore Kicks Off

Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker got an early run on the new Singapore season board when Zac Heaven strode home on Sunday at Kranji.

The son of Danbird was beautifully ridden by 4kg claiming apprentice LQ (Jimmy) Kek - he shot the gates from his handy draw and dictated terms, never to be headed.

It was the 6YO's fifth career win for the gelding raced by the Zac stable.  The horse has also finished runner up on eight occasions, been placed third on 10 occasions and been fourth another nine times - for a total of $240,412 in career earnings.

The Singapore season races over a calendar year and the new season commenced on New Year's Day.  In just his third full season in 2013, Mark was runner up on the Trainers' Premiership and the stable earned $4.5 million in stakes for our owners - an incredible effort and one which underlines Mark's training prowess.  There is no doubt that this season will be another one to be proud of.
