Te Akau Singapore Monday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained nine winners this season and leads the Trainers' Premiership.

Monday 30 January - note due to Chinese New Year, the race meeting is a day meeting -

5.40 p.m. R1 10 BEST JADE - Manuel Nunes; in this Class 5 1200m on the polytrack, he draws awkwardly (11 of 12) and carries 56kgs with the champion jockey aboard. He went a good race last start - a slightly tougher field today but still a top four chance.

6.10 p.m. R2 10 HONOR - Manuel Nunes; this Rip Van Winkle filly showed plenty of promise in New Zealand before heading to race in Singapore for her owners. On debut in the Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1000m on the polytrack, she has drawn handily (3) and carries 55.5kgs in this field on 10. She is a nice filly who will appreciate more distance - still a good each-way chance.

7.10 p.m. R4 9 JACK'S SECRET - Manuel Nunes; he has developed a handy formline since arriving in Singapore 4-5-3 and has drawn gate four and carries 53kgs in this Maiden 1400m on the turf long course B. In this field of 14, he is in good form, is well drawn with a light weight - a strong each way chance.

7.45 p.m. R5 6 LIM'S CONTROL - App Z Syed (a4); this son of Coats Choice has drawn the nightmare alley (12 of 12) in this Class 5 1000m on the polytrack and carries 54.5kgs courtesy of the apprentice claim. He has drawn the outside over 1000m - needs luck.

8.15 p.m. R6 4 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - Manuel Nunes; another disappointing draw (12 of 14) that the top rider will need to negotiate in this Class 4 1200m on the turf long course B. Weighted with 56.5kgs, he too is awkwardly drawn - a top five chance.

8.45 p.m. R7 6 PRETTY ELUSIVE - Manuel Nunes; in a field of 12 for the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack, he has drawn gate nine and carrie 56.5kgs. He is struggling to win a race but finds division two - a top five chance.

9.15 p.m. R8 9 CLERMONT CLUB - Manuel Nunes; has been a honest earner in Singapore and back in this grade cannot be discounted lining up in the Class 5 1800m on the polytrack with just 52.5kgs. His last two starts have produced a handy 3rd and 4th placing and jumping from barrier seven of 12 today, he senior horse is in good form and again a top five chance.

9.50 p.m. R9 10 DISTINCTIVE DARCI - Manuel Nunes; a rising star in the stable who won his first four on the trot and stepped up to top company with a creditable second placing last start. In this Open Benchmark 83 over 1100m on the polytrack he jumps from gate two and will carry a nice lightweight of 53kgs. In this 
S$100,000 event, he has improved since his first up run - he faces a strong field but rates a top four chance.

10.25 p.m. R10 1 HELLO MICHELLE - App R Zawari (a2); a three-pronged attack in this Class 4 1100m on the polytrack for Mark Walker. This Minstrel Court filly, who made an immediate impact upon her Singapore arrival when winning as a juvenile, has unfortunately drawn 12 of 12 and carries 56kgs with the apprentice allowance. With her last five starts producing 8-3-1-1-3, she has sadly drawn the carpark but is in good form and with any ounce of luck going her way, she rates a top four chance.

10.25 p.m. R10 7 COURT CASE - Manuel Nunes; the second of the trainer's trio was a solid fourth last start, draws out at 11 and carries 54kgs. He is unpredictable but if he puts it together - a top four chance in this field.

10.25 p.m. R10 10 UNSURPASSED - App CK Ng (a3); the third of the trio for the stable in this S$60,000 affair draws “best” jumping from gate nine and carries just 51.5kgs. A good Class 5 winner last start, the son of Exceed and Excel, but this is a tougher grade - a place chance.

11.00 p.m. R11 1 LIM'S KNIGHT - App R Zawari (a2); to conclude the night, this capable galloper draws the ace in the Class 4 1200m on the turf long course B and with the apprentice up, is weighted with 56kgs, a 2kgs relief. His last four starts read as 1-5-2-3 so he is in good form, has drawn well an rates a strong each way chance.
