Te Akau Singapore Monday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Premiership winning trainer Mark Walker lies second on the 2017 Trainers' Premiership (one off the lead) with 30 wins since 1 January.

Monday 1 May

4.50 p.m. R1 9 HONOR - Manuel Nunes; draws nicely (2) in the Open Maiden WFA 1100m on the polytrack and with the champion jockey to ride, carries 54.5kgs.  A 3YO Rip Van Winkle filly, she faces and field of 10 runners and rates a place chance, preferring the turf.

5.20 p.m. R2 9 OBSTACLES FREE - App R Zawari (a2); not faring so well draw-wise (11 of 12) in this Initiation 4YO + Below WFA 1200m on the polytrack, he carries 54kgs with the apprentice claim.  This will be start number three for the 3YO son of Coats Choice who has been a little disappointing since arriving and needs to improve.

5.50 p.m. R3 4 ANICENT WARRIOR - Shafiq Rizuan; the New Zealand owned 4YO son of Iffraaj draws five of 11 for the Kranji Stakes D SW 1200m on the polytrack and is weighted with 58kgs.  Already a winner in Singapore, he was desperately unlucky last start and rates a top four chance.

6.20 p.m. R4 3 ASPEN - Shafiq Rizuan; this 6YO son of Alamosa went a ripper of a race for second last start, narrowly missing the win.  He faces 10 opponents in this Class 5 1600m on the polytrack where he carries 57kgs, breaking from the ace draw.  Whilst any rain, and being on the turf, would assist his chances, he comes into this with a really solid form line of 2-3-3-4-2 and rates a top four chance.

6.50 p.m. R5 5 DECRETO - I Azhar; draws nicely (4) for the Class 4 1000m on the polytrack where he carries 55.5kgs.  He is on debut tonight for the stable and, on what the trainer has seen thus far, he rates a top four chance in this field of 10 starters.

7.25 p.m. R6 3 CLERMONT CLUB - App R Zawari (a2); another horse enjoying a real purple patch of form (3-4-2-1-2), this son of Casino Prince is the first of two stable runners for Mark Walker in the Class 5 1600m on the polytrack.  He carries 55.5kgs however he has copped an awkward draw (11 of 12) - and older horse but in current form, a top five chance.

7.25 p.m. R6 5 KASHAN - Oscar Chavez; the second for the stable draws better (6) and also carries 55.5kgs.  This 5YO is another racing well - top four chance.

8.25 p.m. R8 1 GANNET - App R Zawari (a2); jumping from barrier six in this 11 horse field for the Kranji Stakes D SW over 1200m on the polytrack, he carries 56kgs with the benefit of the apprentice aboard.  He has been disappointing and needs to improve.

9.00 p.m. R9 5 TURQUOISE KING - Manuel Nunes; arguably the form horse in this Open Benchmark 67 over 1700m on the polytrack, he carries 55.5kgs but has drawn the widest gate (11 of 11).  His last five starts have delivered 2-3-1-3-3 results and he is racing in great form - top four chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 2 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - Manuel Nunes; the top rider jumps aboard in the Kranji Stakes D SW 1200m on the polytrack where this son of Showcasing draws five of 12 and carries 58kgs.  The 4YO has been disappointing so far but finds a weaker race - place chance.

10.00 p.m. R11 4 KEEN DRAGON - App R Zawari (a2); cops one off the outside gate unfortunately for the Open Benchmark 67 1200m on the polytrack where he carries 55.5kgs.  One of two for the stable in this S$60,000 event he is in superior form (2-1-0-2-1) but this field is much tougher - place chance.

10.00 p.m. R11 10 EN CIVIL - App CK Ng (a3); this last start winner is the second of the Walker duo and draws even worse - the outside gate itself in the field of 12.  Carrying 52kgs with the apprentice claim, he has been racing in great heart but this field looks a touch strong.
