Te Akau Singapore New Year's Day Preview

Te Akau Singapore has seven horses racing on Tuesday 1 January at Kranji - the first meeting of the new season.

Te Akau trainer Mark Walker ended last season in fourth place on the premiership table, and the leading Kiwi trainer.

The winner of five training premierships in New Zealand, Walker has twice been crowned Champion Trainer in Singapore (2015, 2017), while also finishing second and third since setting up stables in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.

6.45 p.m. R2 1 Federation (3 g Written Tycoon - Bloomingdale Miss) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 3 of 11 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 57kgs. He ran second on debut, a promising horse, he rates a top four chance.

7.45 p.m. R4 1 Sacred Don (4 g Fastnet Rock - Donatella) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 12 of 13 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 57.5kgs. A tough draw and he needs more distance - one of three in the race for Mark Walker.

7.45 p.m. R4 2 Bejewelled (4 g Minstrel Court - Diamond Jules) - Razali Zawari (a1); drew barrier 8 of 13 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 56.5kgs. He will be ridden forward and presents as a contender for a top three finish.

7.45 p.m. R4 4 Accumulation (4 g Rip Van Winkle - Vega Sicila) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 11 of 13 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 57.5kgs. He needs more distance but rates a place chance.

9.50 p.m. R8 9 Fulife King (3 g Written Tycoon - Brilliant Bisc) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 52kgs. A first starter, and a nice horse, he rates as a top four chance - one of two in the race for the stable.

9.50 p.m. R8 11 Cousteau (4 g Exceed and Excel - Maritime) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 51kgs. He appears a dangerous lightweight chance.

11.00 p.m. R10 7 Hidden Promise (6 g Postponed - Promissory) - Razali Zawari (a1); drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 55.5kgs. He needs more distance.
