Te Akau Singapore on Song
18 October, 2014
Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker and our team celebrated a terrific Friday evening of racing at Kranji - with a double header! Yes two wins and every one of the team's seven runners boasting a first-four finish.
The night kicked off with Mala Mala narrowly defeated into second in the first, then came Falcon, likewise runner up. A couple of races later Toast's Angel flew into third while stablemate Select Gathering was fourth in the same event.
Then it was time for win number one - honours going to Sacred Spin in the hands of leading Singapore jockey Manny Nunes with the Raffles Racing Stable 4YO cleaning up in the S$35,000 Maiden 1400m. It was a double celebration on Friday for Nunes as he reached win 100 for the season, and on his wife's birthday!
The winning didn't stop there, as Te Akau Singapore's very next runner also saluted the judge - this time the David Ellis purchased Fiscal Wings for Lisa Allpress in the S$38,000 Kranji Stakes D SW 1100m.
To round off the evening, our last starter Jefferson Bay (formerly known as Encosta Diablo and now racing for the Za Stable) was a brave fourth.
These results have seen Te Akau Singapore's stakes' earnings now pass the $2 million mark, with two and a half months remaining in the season - a great achievement.
With the double header, Mark Walker has now trained 40 winners this season and remains (as he has all season) in the top 10 on the Trainers' Premiership.
