11.20 p.m. R1 6 Hillbilly Bear (6 g Thorn Park - Classic Vault) - David Flores; drew barrier eleven of fourteen (12 run) in the $38,000 Kranji D 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 58kgs. He looks bright and well, and although drawn wide he has a top-class poly track rider aboard. A favourable trip could see him finish in the first five.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R4 7 Double Jeopardy (4 g Mettre En Jeu - Flyin' Finnish) - David Flores; drew barrier five of fourteen (12 run) in the $35,000 Maiden 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kgs. Stepping up to an ideal distance, a more encouraging performance is expected when being let settle off the pace.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 2 Soul Commander (6 g Commands - Bartolemeo) - Lisa Allpress; drew the outside barrier of fourteen (12 run) in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 56.5kgs. Lisa (Allpress) is a great barrier rider and can hopefully secure a nice position. Coming back into form, he has blinkers and pacifiers on to give him an edge.

He is first on the ballot, but able to get a start an encouraging effort is expected with the top rider aboard.

Racing at a trip well short of his best, the outing will help fit him for a mile on the Jan. 1: the first day of a new season.

Although better suited on Jan. 4 over 1200 metres, he strikes a moderate field on paper and appears capable of finishing top four.

Striking a strong field, he may require dropping back to Class 4 in order to prove more competitive - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

A last start winner, he meets stronger competition up in grade but brings the right form to return another respectable performance.

11.40 p.m. R11 5 Iking (6 g Holy Roman Emperor - Lacada) - Razali Zawari (a3); drew barrier eight of fourteen (12 run) in the $38,000 Kranji D 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 55kgs. Racing very well and with luck in running can continue his good form.

Using the race instead of a trial, he is a horse of good ability and could figure in the first five before progressing on to 1400m and a mile in the New Year.
