Te Akau Singapore Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 53 wins (9 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on 1 January.

Friday 31 July

10.20 p.m. R1 3 King Savinsky (4g Savabeel - Lynisky) Manuel Nunes; has drawn the outside gate in this 12 horse field. He has previously shown that he needs further than the mile but if he can get handy early he can be a first four contender and he should be doing his best work late in the race.

10.50 p.m. R2 4 Hee's Ego (3g Tale Of The Cat - Quatro) CK Ng (a4); returns from his spell a bright and well horse. While 1200m is short of his best, he has the four kilos off with apprentice CK Ng taking the reins and he has drawn nicely at barrier three. Whatever he can do in this race, he should only improve on and would be good to see him strong to the line. The first of two for Te Akau in this event.

10.50 p.m. R2 12 Captain Classique (2g Captain Rio - Lady Classique) Manuel Nunes; the second Te Akau runner in the race. Captain Classique returns from a spell a very bright and fresh horse. He is drawn 11 in which will be a field with 14 runners. We expect to see plenty of improvement in him with this run under his belt and with an ounce of luck he can be a place contender.

11.50 p.m. R4 10 Fine Choice (2g Coat's Choice - She's Refined) Manuel Nunes; has shown ability in his three starts in Singapore to date. He has drawn five out in a field of ten horses and leading Singapore rider Manuel Nunes will accompany Fine Choice yet again. It is a small field with plenty of depth but we believe he is up to this class and that he can be in the finish.

R6 12.50 a.m. R6 1 Ready Fortune (5g More Than Ready - Bahira) R Shafiq (a1); has been kept nice and fresh to run the mile. He has drawn nine in this 10 horse field but now in the lower division of Class 5 he should have every chance to be competitive. Our champion apprentice, Shafiq will assist taking one kilo off his back and we think he has to be a good chance to finish in the first four.

R7 1.20 a.m. R7 6 Iking (6g Holy Roman Emperor - Lacada) CK Ng (a4); his work has been very encouraging leading into this race. He has drawn four and our promising apprentice CK Ng will take four kilos off his back which will be of a huge assist. This is a relatively strong field however Iking has the right attributes to figure in the finish. One of two in this event for Te Akau.

R7 1.20 a.m. R7 7 Sacred Spin (4g Hard Spun - Destina) Manuel Nunes; is the second runner in the race for Te Akau. His work has been good and we have taught him to settle better now in the early stages of the race. He is drawn three and with leading Singapore rider Manuel Nunes aboard, he should be able to take up a handy position in the running.  We think he can go very close in this Class 4 field.

R9 2.20 a.m. 4 Chase (3g Nicconi - Speedos) R Shafiq (a1); won three in a row before his last two. The 1200m is probably a bit short of his best however he could give some cheek in a fresh state.  He returns from a spell and has drawn nine out of 12. Our champion apprentice Shafiq will claim the one and with the right run, Chase should be competitive first up.

Sunday 2 August

R6 7.25 p.m. 13 Our River Dancer (5g Danehill Dancer - Distinctly); currently sits first on the ballot. He steps up to the mile and has drawn five in this 12 horse field. He is consistently not too far away from the winner. If he can get a start in this event it would be nice to see him hit the line strongly and be in the finish as he steps up to the mile.

R10 9.30 p.m. 2 Jimmy Rea (4g Thewayyouare - Maureen Terese) Manuel Nunes; has had a quiet barrier trial to prepare for this race. He has drawn five in the field of 9 and leading Singapore rider Manuel Nunes should find him a lovely spot in the running. He is a quality galloper and he should be hard to beat in this field.  The first of two for Te Akau lining up in the race.

R10 9.30 p.m. 3 Indian Jade (5g Sleeping Indian - Flora Burn) R Zawari (a3); the second of Te Akau's starters in this event, he has come through his first up run for third very well. He has drawn two in the field of nine and with apprentice Zawari claiming three kilos he has a lot in his favour. With some luck in the running he can definitely be right in the finish.
