Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
Date: 20 Jan 2024
Te Akau Singapore has eight horses entered on Saturday 20 January at Kranji – third meeting for the new season (calendar year).
5:00 p.m. R1 2 China Pearl (3 g Ardrossan – Indian Sky) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he draws the outside barrier (13) in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. He speared through to win last start, will get back and requires luck from his wide draw (13).
7:00 p.m. R5 1 God’s Gift (7 g Haradasun – Criquette) – Awa Chong (a4); he draws the outside barrier (12) in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He comes in with first four claims but is another needing everything to go his way from a carpark gate (12).
7:30 p.m. R6 7 Tangible (9 g Trippi – Ebony Flyer) – Alex Ibrahim (a3); he draws barrier 5 of 8 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on the turf and carries 51kg. Fresh-up, this is his first start for the stable. While he has two trials to prepare, he may need the run, but poses a sneaky chance.
8:30 p.m. R8 1 Commander (3 g U S Navy Flag – Quest) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he draws barrier 11 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the turf and carries 56kg. He won impressively last start, will likely get back due to the challenge of his wide gate (11).
9:00 p.m. R9 3 Axel (8 g Darci Brahma – Josephines Fortune) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he draws barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 52kg. A stable favourite and now veteran, this contests a race on his favourite course/distance having stacked up four wins under these conditions. In an open field, he is ideally drawn (1) to race well - one of two in the race for the team.
9:00 p.m. R9 9 Montana Flash (5 g Star Turn – Dukemore) – Ivan Espindola; he draws barrier 2 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries just 51.5kg. He is a capable type and rates a top four chance.
9:30 p.m. R10 2 King Arthur (6 g I Am Invincible – Pentasia) – Awa Chong (a4); he draws barrier 4 of 11 in the $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He is suited back on the turf surface, and brings a good course/distance record to the contest.
10:00 p.m. R11 5 Te Akau Ben (6 g Tavistock – Danalaga) – Alex Ibrahim (a3); he draws barrier 5 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 51kg. He is capable of upsetting if he finds best form.
