Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
Date: 9 Mar 2024
Te Akau Singapore has 11 horses entered on Saturday 9 March at Kranji.
5.00 p.m. R1 3 Our Secret Weapon (6 g Outreach – Poppy’s Pond) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he drew barrier 7 of 11 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 56kg. He raced wide without cover last start, following a nice win, and it's his favourite course/distance - one of three in the event for the stable.
5.00 p.m. R1 4 Santino (3 g Santos – Mercy’s Choice) – Carlos Henrique; he drew barrier 4 of 11 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 58.5kg. This will be somewhat like a trial for him as he needs to learn to settle.
5.00 p.m. R1 9 Super Posh (8 g Super Easy – Posh Bec) – Fadzli Yusoff (a2); he drew barrier 3 of 11 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 55kg. He hasn't had much luck recently, it's his favourite course/distance, there is a stronger rider engaged and he provides value.
6:30 p.m. R4 6 Aftermath (6 g Spirit of Boom – Elusive Gift) – Ronnie Stewart; he drew barrier 8 of 13 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 52.5kg. With a senior rider aboard, he will look for the opportunity to settle in midfield and finish strongly.
7:30 p.m. R6 7 Contarelli (4 g Caravaggio – Dark And Stormy) – Carlos Henrique; he drew barrier 5 of 9 in the $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf and carries 52kg. While not showing his best recently, he has had some excuse and has been working well and seeks improvement.
8:30 p.m. R8 1 Istataba (5 m Treasure Beach – Coordenada) – Bruno Queiroz; she drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1600 metres on the turf and carries 58.5kg. Lightly raced for five wins, she ran a very good third in the $1 million Singapore Gold Cup (Gr. 1, 2000m), was blocked at a vital stage last time, and rates a top three chance - in a race with a stable trio stepping out.
8:30 p.m. R8 3 Tangible (9 g Trippi – Ebony Flyer) – Fadzli Yusoff (a2); he drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1600 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He requires 2000 metres or further to show his best.
8:30 p.m. R8 6 Trident (5 g Deep Field – Miss Fi) – Ronnie Stewart; he drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1600 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. Having his second start at a mile, he rates a top four chance.
9:30 p.m. R10 3 Knippenberg (4 g I Am Invincible – Red Fez) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he drew the outside barrier (12) in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on the turf and carries 54kg. He has been working well, enjoys weight relief, and is capable of rating a top three chance with luck from the outside gate (12) - the first of two for the stable.
9:30 p.m. R10 7 Stenmark (5 g Medaglia d’Oro – Scandiva) – Bruno Queiroz; he drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. He has improved since surgery, has been working very well, finished powerfully last time and again presents as a place chance.
10:35 p.m. R12 7 Gun (3 g Extreme Choice – Myrtle Turtle) – Jamil Sarwi (a3); he drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 49kg. Held up last time, he is ideally drawn (1) and weighted (49kg) to have first four claims.
