Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
Date: 25 May 2024
Te Akau Singapore has nine horses entered on Saturday 25 May at Kranji.
Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022 and trained over 100 winners since, including runner-up in the premiership.
Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
4:30 p.m. R1 5 Fadaboy (5 g Deep Field – Ezee Ezee) – Manoel Nunes; he drew the outside barrier (12) in the S$30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 58kg. He came from well back for fifth last start, with Nunes aboard, and rates a top four chance but needs plenty of luck from his wide draw (12) - the first of a stable duo lining up in the event.
4:30 p.m. R1 8 Red Maned (5 m Burgundy – Imagunakepa) – Darren Danis (a1); she drew barrier 10 of 12 also in the S$30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 52kg. She delivered a solid third last start, also with Danis aboard, and while she faces a slightly tougher field, she has first four claims.
6:00 p.m. R4 6 God’s Gift (7 g Haradasun – Criquette) – Bruno Queiroz; he drew barrier 4 of 14 in the S$30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf and carries 57.5kg. He will be ridden by the leading jockey and is handily drawn (4) to make an impact.
7:30 p.m. R7 4 Axel (8 g Darci Brahma – Josephines Fortune) – Bernardo Pinheiro; he drew barrier 7 of 14 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. A 10-time winner, he posted a good third last start, likes to settle back, and is capable of a bold effort in this race with two stable representatives.
7:30 p.m. R7 5 Te Akau Ben (6 g Tavistock – Danalaga) – Ivan Espindola; he drew barrier 10 of 14 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. He won two starts ago and continues to race in good form. He also remains in the same grade and over the same distance, and rates a top three chance.
8:00 p.m. R8 1 Istataba (5 m Treasure Beach – Coordenada) – Bruno Queiroz; she drew barrier 4 of 8 in the S$70,000 Class 3 1800 metres on the turf and carries 57.5kg. A tough mare, who is racing solidly, she can be right in the thick of the finish on current form - the first in two in the event for the team.
8:00 p.m. R8 4 Tangible (9 g Trippi – Ebony Flyer) – Luis Corrales; he drew barrier 3 of 8 also in the S$70,000 Class 3 1800 metres on the turf and carries 56kg. He requires 2000 metres or further to make his presence felt.
8:30 p.m. R9 3 Contarelli (4 g Caravaggio – Dark And Stormy) – Bernardo Pinheiro; unfortunately he drew the outside barrier (14) in the S$30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf and carries 59kg. He finished second when dropping back to this grade last start and the draw will do him no favours whatsoever, he will need plenty of luck from there.
9:00 p.m. R10 11 Otahuhu (4 g Overshare – O’Reilly Miracle) – Bernardo Pinheiro; he drew barrier 2 of 12 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 52kg. He returns to his preferred surface for this assignment, has won two of last his last four starts, and poses a realistic top four chance.
