Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 20 (including three on ballot) horses racing on Saturday 26 September at Kranji.

Trainer Mark Walker ended last season (Dec. 8) with 73 wins to claim his third title as Singapore Champion Trainer, and currently leads with 39 wins this year.

4.00 p.m. R1 13 Maximillian (5 g Highly Recommended - Annabel Rose) - unfixed; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 51kgs. He sits at ballot one, so is unlikely to gain a start but rates in in the top four prospects if he made the field.

4.30 p.m. R2 1 Speedy Missile (4 g Smart Missile - Telegraph Girl) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 11 of 14 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1600 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. Awkwardly drawn (11), but he has the leading rider engaged and he rates a top three chance - one of two in the event for Mark Walker.

4.30 p.m. R2 2 Showbound (4 g Showcasing - Midnight Senorita) - JP Van der Merwe; drew the outside barrier (14) in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1600 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. He has a difficult draw (14) to navigate, but he put in a nice effort last start when second and so looks a place chance with luck.

5.00 p.m. R3 5 Sacred Judgement (5 g So You Think - Rose Ransom) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 9 of 13 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 57kgs. He produced a very sound effort for second last start, but has a tricky draw to contend with (9 - however with the country's top rider aboard, he presents as a top three contender.

5.30 p.m. R4 13 Lim's Rhythm (6 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Paixanito) - unfixed; drew the outside barrier (14) in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kgs. He sits first on the ballot and is unlikely to gain a start - however if he made the field, he has first four claims.

6.00 p.m. R5 2 Quick Shosha (4 g Snitzel - Leinan) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on turf and carries 58.5kgs. He can improve from his good draw (1) with the “Vlad Duric factor” and he rates a top four chance - the first of two for trainer Mark Walker in this.

6.00 p.m. R5 14 Barbarian (4 g Redoute's Choice - Fume Blanc) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 12 of 14 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on turf and carries 51.5kgs. He comes in with a featherweight but faces a tough draw (12) and thus he can be factored in to top four prospects with luck.

7.00 p.m. R7 9 Federation (5 g Written Tycoon - Bloomingdale Miss) - Ruan Maia; drew barrier 11 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf and carries 55.5kgs. He has a tricky draw to deal with (11), but he's a big striding horse and has claims for a final four finish - the first of a trio of runners for the stable.

7.00 p.m. R7 11 Inherit (5 g Pierro - In the Future) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 3 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kgs. He would be better suited in Class 4.

7.00 p.m. R7 13 Axel (5 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - CK Ng (a3); drew barrier 2 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf and carries 51kgs. He is a very consistent horse that went well last time and he rates a top four chance from good draw (2) and weight relief.

7.30 p.m. R8 4 Big Regards (7 g Darci Brahma - Molly Coco) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. He produced a good run last start, and the blinkers/pacifiers go on, - look to him to be right in the action at the deep end!!

8.00 p.m. R9 2 Yulong Edition (5 g Makfi - Bride Unbridled) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 9 of 14 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on turf and carries 58kgs. He went very well last time to the races - his last start second came in a strong race and he rates a top four chance with champion rider Vlad Duric aboard.

8.00 p.m. R9 10 Sacred Croix (6 g Savabeel - Croix Du Sud) - JP Van der Merwe; drew the outside barrier (14) in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on turf and carries 51kgs. Yet another with a nightmare draw (14) but carrying a light weight, he does rate a place chance with luck.

8.00 p.m. R9 16 Time Lord (6 g Guillotine - Mary Agnes) - unfixed; drew barrier 13 of 14 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on turf and carries 50kgs. Second on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.

9.00 p.m. R11 4 Elite Power (6 g Sakhee's Secret - London Welsh) - Louis Beuzelin; drew barrier 10 of 14 in the $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kgs. He would love some rain, so rates a place chance - the first of a Mark Walker trio in the $100,000 event.

9.00 p.m. R11 8 Sacred Rebel (6 g Sepoy - Pandoro De Lago) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 11 of 14 in the $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 52kgs. While he prefers the poly track, he nevertheless rates a place chance, the second runner in this Class 1 for the stable.

9.00 p.m. R11 9 Altair (5 g Zoustar - Rossarita) - CK Ng (a3); drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 48.5kgs. A last start winner, he has a good draw (4), and while he has performed better on the poly track he poses a dangerous light weight top four prospect.

10.00 p.m. R13 10 Mustengo (5 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on turf and carries 54kgs. Ideally drawn (1), with two seconds under his belt from his last two starts, he rates a top four chance.

10.30 p.m. R14 6 Barbeque (5 g Helmet - Heat of the Fire) - Ruan Maia; drew barrier 11 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 54kgs. He is another who has copped an awkward draw (11), but his last start second was very solid, and he is racing well - a top four possibility.

10.30 p.m. R14 12 What You Like (7 g Savabeel - Kinsella) - CK Ng (a3); drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 48.5kgs. The second starter in his Class 4 for Mark Walker - he has the benefit of a good draw (4), a light weight, and as such has to be in first four calculations.
