Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview










Te Akau Singapore has 15 horses entered on Saturday 9 January at Kranji. 





Trainer Mark Walker ended an interrupted season (27 Dec.) in second place with 45 wins. He was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), and 2019, runner-up twice, third, and fourth, since Te Akau established its stable in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.














5.30 p.m. R1 13 Red Riding Wood (7 g Redwood - Dreamcatcher) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 13 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 56kg. He requires luck from wide draw (13) in the first on the programme.





6.00 p.m. R2 1 Entertainer  (4 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Ruan Maia; drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 57.5kg. He is in good form, has drawn favourably (1), has a good rider engaged, and he rates a top three contender in a race with three stable representatives.





6.00 p.m. R2 2 Showbound  (4 g Showcasing - Midnight Senorita) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 57.5kg. The second of the trio of stable runners trialled nicely and he looks a top four prospect.





6.00 p.m. R2 12 Wednesday (3 g Super One - Shufetish) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 51kg. The third in this event for trainer Mark Walker does need to improve on his first-up effort.





6.30 p.m. R3 4 Street Cry Success  (6 g Street Cry - Koala Bear) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 9 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 55kg. Two starters for Mark Walker in this event and the first, this 6YO is fresh-up, he can feature in the final four. 





6.30 p.m. R3 5 Sacred Judgement (5 g So You Think - Rose Ransom) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 5 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 57.5kg. The second runner for Mark Walker has trialled nicely, does perform well fresh, and he rates a top four chance.





7.30 p.m. R5 1 Broadway Success  (5 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 55kg. While this resuming trip will be too short at this stage of his preparation, expect him to be running on.





7.30 p.m. R5 14 Amazing Choice (6 g Shocking - Choices Are) - unfixed; drew 3 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 56kg. He is currently number two on the ballot, and is unlikely to gain a start.





8.00 p.m. R6 9 Big Regards (7 g Darci Brahma - Molly Coco) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 54.5kgs. He drops back to a mile, and looks a place chance.





9.00 p.m. R8 5 Hidden Promise (8 g Postponed - Promissory) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 53.5kg. He needs more distance to make his presence felt.





9.00 p.m. R8 14 Black Quail  (7 g Coats Choice - Sefidi) - unfixed; drew the outside barrier (12) in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 59kg. Sitting at two on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.





9.30 p.m. R9 8 Red Rover (6 g O'Reilly - Pin Up) - Troy See (a1); drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $70,000 Kranji C 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kg. He requires a drop to Class 4 to make an impact.





9.30 p.m. R9 12 Mustengo (5 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - JP Van der Merwe; drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $70,000 Kranji C 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 52kg. He is another who also needs to drop to Class 5 to be more competitive.





9.30 p.m. R9 13 Barbeque (5 g Helmet - Heat of the Fire) - unfixed; drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $70,000 Kranji C 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 52kg. First on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.





10.00 p.m. R10 1 Federation  (5 g Written Tycoon - Bloomingdale Miss) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 9 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. Fresh-up, he rates a top four contender without rain.
