Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 13 horses entered on Saturday 16 January at Kranji.

Trainer Mark Walker ended a pandemic interrupted season (27 Dec.) in second place with 45 wins. He was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), and 2019, runner-up twice, third, and fourth, since setting up stables in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.

5.30 p.m. R1 1 Black Quail (7 g Coats Choice - Sefidi) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 56kg. He's in good form and rates a top three chance.

5.30 p.m. R1 13 Amazing Choice (6 g Shocking - Choices Are) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 52kg. Sitting at one on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.

6.00 p.m. R2 1 Happy Friday (4 g Shooting to Win - Enide) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 57kg. In good form, he presents as a top three prospect.

6.30 p.m. R3 8 Just Landed  (5 g Jimmy Choux - Lionstar) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 48.5kg. Resuming after a layoff, he will improve for the run.

7.00 p.m. R4 1 Brutus  (4 g Rubick - Harvest Queen) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on turf and carries 54kg. He is a place chance in a very strong field.

7.00 p.m. R4 2 Speedy Missile  (4 g Smart Missile - Telegraph Girl) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on turf and carries 54kg. He needs more distance, so place chance looks his best prospect.

7.00 p.m. R4 9 Stenmark (3 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 12 of 14 in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on turf and carries 54.5kg. On debut, unfortunately he has copped a nightmare draw (12) so he looks a possible place contender.

8.00 p.m. R6 1 Sportscaster (7 g Fastnet Rock - Gypsy Dancer) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 55kg. He needs more distance to make his presence felt.

8.30 p.m. R7 5 Sacred Croix (6 g Savabeel - Croix Du Sud) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 3 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf and carries 54.5kg. Expected to go well fresh-up, he rates an each-way option at good odds.

8.30 p.m. R7 12 Axel  (5 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 2 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf and carries 53kg. Drawn (2) to get a soft run, he rates among the top four prospects.

8.30 p.m. R7 16 Silent Partner (5 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - unfixed; drew barrier 13 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf and carries 55kg. As number two on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.

9.30 p.m. R9 11 Time Lord  (6 g Guillotine - Mary Agnes) - C K Ng (a3); drew barrier 5 of 14 in the $85,000 Class 2 1400 metres on turf and carries 47kg. He will improve over more distance.

10.00 p.m. R10 4Exdream  (5 g Dream Ahead - Sboog) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kg. The wide draw (10) makes it tough.
