Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
13 February, 2021
Te Akau Singapore has 13 horses entered on Sunday 13 February at Kranji.
Trainer Mark Walker ended a pandemic interrupted season (27 Dec.) in second place with 45 wins. He was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), and 2019, runner-up twice, third, and fourth, since setting up stables in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.
5.30 p.m. R1 1 Black Quail (7 g Coats Choice - Sefidi) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 11 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 56kg. A difficult draw (11) to contend with, but he rates a top four chance with any luck in the running - in a race with two Mark Walker representatives.
5.30 p.m. R1 2 Lai Mak Mak (9 g O'Reilly - Pretty) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 7 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He drops back in class here, and does have first four claims.
6.00 p.m. R2 12 Marcus Antonius (3 g Sepoy - Panda's Turn) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew the outside barrier (12) in the $20,000 Maiden 1600 metres on the poly-track and carries 51kg. A very tough ask from the wide gate (12) but he needs to improve.
6.30 p.m. R3 8 Entertainer (4 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 49kgs. A last start winner, he is up in class here but can feature in the top five. The first of two stable runners in the event.
6.30 p.m. R3 12 Barbeque (5 g Helmet - Heat of the Fire) - JP Van der Merwe; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 50kgs. He needs a drop to Class 5 to make an impact.
7.30 p.m. R5 3 Cassius (3 g Street Boss - Je T'aime) - Troy See (a1); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 53.5kg. The first of a stable trio in the race, he does need to lift.
7.30 p.m. R5 11 Barbarian (4 g Redoute's Choice - Fume Blanc) - Ismail Saifudin; drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 50kg. He is a light weight place chance.
7.30 p.m. R5 12 Accumulation (6 g Rip Van Winkle - Vega Sicila) - Mohd Zaki; drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 50kg. He needs to improve.
8.00 p.m. R6 13 Mustengo (5 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 3 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 2000 metres on turf and carries 48kg. A good last start second over 1700 metres sees him capable of a final four finish if he appreciates the extra distance.
8.30 p.m. R7 15 Federation (5 g Written Tycoon - Bloomingdale Miss) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 7 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf and carries 51.5kg. Another last start winner, he does face a rise in class here but as number one on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.
9.30 p.m. R9 10 Sacred Croix (6 g Savabeel - Croix Du Sud) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 8 of 14 in the $100,000 Class 1 1400 metres on turf and carries 47.5kg. He was a smart last winner but rates a place chance in what is a tough field.
9.30 p.m. R9 15 Sacred Rebel (6 g Sepoy - Pandoro De Lago) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew the outside barrier (14) in the $100,000 Class 1 1400 metres on turf and carries 52.5kg. Another who saluted the judge last start - however he too sits on the ballot and is unlikely to make the field.
10.00 p.m. R10 2Sacred Gift (5 g Zoustar - Calcatta) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 54.5kgs. He is enjoying good form, has the benefit of an apprentice claim, and ranks in the top four prospects from barrier two.
