Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 15 horses entered on Saturday 27 February at Kranji.

Currently second, trainer Mark Walker ended a pandemic interrupted season (27 Dec.) in second place with 45 wins. He was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), and 2019, runner-up twice, third, and fourth, since Te Akau established stables in October 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.

5.30 p.m. R1 5 Lai Mak Mak (9 g O'Reilly - Pretty) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 54kg. Ideally drawn (1), he is a top four contender.

6.00 p.m. R2 5 Marcus Antonius (3 g Sepoy - Panda's Turn) - Simon Kok (a1); drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 56kg. He needs to lift to make an impact - one of two in the race for the trainer.

6.00 p.m. R2 9 Elliot Ness (3 g Written Tycoon - Walk With Attitude) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 54kg. This gelding is on debut and is a nice individual so he does look a first four prospect with luck from the awkward draw (10).

6.30 p.m. R3 5 Cousteau (6 g Exceed and Excel - Maritime) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 56.5kgs. He draws a good gate (1), has a strong rider engaged and can look to a first four finish.

7.00 p.m. R4 6 Take a Chance (3 g Star Witness - Hilylia) - JP Van der Merwe; drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 54.5kg. He needs to improve to feature.

7.00 p.m. R4 7 Our Secret Weapon (3 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 51.5kg. He went a good race for third when last presented and has claims to be in the first four past the post on that effort.

7.00 p.m. R4 13 Wednesday (3 g Super One - Shufetish) - unfixed; drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 54.5kg. Ballot one, he is unlikely to gain a start.

7.30 p.m. R5 1 Barbeque (5 g Helmet - Heat of the Fire) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 56kgs.  He drops to Class 5 here and is expected to show improvement.

7.30 p.m. R5 7 Broadway Success (5 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. With a strong rider aboard, he certainly can make his presence felt at the business end.

8.00 p.m. R6 4 Axel (5 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1700 metres on the poly-track and carries 55.5kg. He rates a top four chance and is always competitive.

9.30 p.m. R9 2 Super Invincible (4 g I Am Invincible - Isstoora) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 55.5kg.  It is his first start for the stable and on previous form, he can figure in the finish.

9.30 p.m. R9 9 Red Rover (6 g O'Reilly - Pin Up) - Ismail Saifudin; drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 54kg. He requires a drop to Class 4 to have an impact.

9.30 p.m. R9 13 Nationality (6 g Commands - Milliyet) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 53kg. Ballot one, he is unlikely to gain a start, but he would rate in the top four prospects with luck from draw (11) if he made the field.

10.00 p.m. R10 3 Man of Mystery (6 g All Too Hard - Black Minx) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 53kgs. He looks a top four proposition from handy draw (3).

10.00 p.m. R10 11 Latent Power (4 g Shamexpress - D J Lightning) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 49kgs. A last start winner and he rates a light weight chance at odds.
