Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 16 horses entered on Saturday 19 February at Kranji.

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and as Mark Walker has now returned home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who leaves in April to train in Hong Kong.

Since Te Akau established its Singapore stable at Kranji in 2010, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019 and 2021 with 66 wins, and he was also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

5:00 p.m. R1 10 Dragon Ryker (5 g Cable Bay - Phoenix Clubs) - CC Wong; drew barrier 2 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg.  He is racing well in blinkers and is ideally drawn (2) to make his presence felt.

6:00 p.m. R3 4 Silent Partner (6 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 4 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He trialled well, has a good course/distance record, is handily drawn (4) and has first four claims - one of two in the race for the team.

6:00 p.m. R3 8 Cosmic Sands (4 g Pride of Dubai - Galileo's Daughter) - CC Wong; drew barrier 1 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. The blinkers are on, he goes forward, and can prove to be a top five contender.

6:30 p.m. R4 9 Wednesday (4 g Super One - Shufetish) - CC Wong; drew barrier 1 of 10 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 54kg. He was caught wide last time, so he needs to utilise the good draw (1).

7:00 p.m. R5 9 Deception (3 g I Am Invincible - Friday Hussy) - CC Wong; drew outside barrier (12) in $75,000 Novice 1400 metres on turf and carries 51.5kg. He is an improving type, who carries a light weight, thus he rates a top four chance with any luck from the tricky gate (12).

7:30 p.m. R6 1 Broadway Success (6 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew outside barrier (11) in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. The plans are to go forward and, despite the tough draw (11), he rates a top three chance.

8:00 p.m. R7 5 Axel (6 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew outside barrier (11) in $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 52kg. he likes poly, the plan is also to go forward, and he can post a top five finish, again one who need luck from difficult draw (11).

8:30 p.m. R8 12 Olympia (4 g Gingerbread Man - Second Omen) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 4 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. He meets strong field so will a lot to go his way here.

9:00 p.m. R9 8 Foresto (7 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 3 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. He needs to improve.

9:00 p.m. R9 13 Rock N Roll (5 g El Roca - Lola Bettle) - CC Wong; drew barrier 2 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 50.5kg. Sitting one on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain start but can feature in the top four if he makes field.

9:30 p.m. R10 1 Minister (6 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 8 of 9 in $85,000 Class 2 1200 metres on turf and carries 59kg. He trialled nicely, however would be better suited over more distance - one of a stable trio in the event.

9:30 p.m. R10 4 Makkem Lad (6 g Kuroshio - Larksong) - Iskandar Rosman (a2); drew barrier 5 of 9 in $85,000 Class 2 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. has been solid over the course/distance, and he rates genuine top three chance.

9:30 p.m. R10 9 Zac Kasa (7 g Reset - Unabated) - Mohd Zaki; drew barrier 1 of 8 in $85,000 Class 2 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 51.5kg. He needs to improve.

10:00 p.m. R11 7 Buddy Buddy (7 g Dubawi - Born Something) - Harry Kasim; drew outside barrier (11) in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 52.5kg. He requires luck from wide draw (11) and is best suited over more distance in a race with two stable starters.

10:00 p.m. R11 8 Mystery Power (4 g No Nay Never - Gems) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 2 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 49.5kg. He needs to improve to be competitive.

10:30 p.m. R12 10 Exdream (6 g Dream Ahead - Sboog) - Jake Bayliss; drew outside barrier (12) in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. Raced well last time, comes in with a light weight, is a course/distance winner, and is a top four prospect with luck from his (another) wide draw (12).
