Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 13 horses entered on Saturday 5 March at Kranji.

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and as Mark Walker has returned home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who leaves in April to train in Hong Kong. 

Since Te Akau established its stable at Kranji in 2010, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, was well as third, and fourth.

 

5:00 p.m. R1 8 God's Gift (5 g Haradasun - Criquette) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 8 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. He comes in fresh-up, however this is the start of this prep. and the trip will be too short, he will be better suited over 1600 metres - one of three in the event for the team..

5:00 p.m. R1 11 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 52kg. Another who comes in fresh-up, he is using race to improve his fitness.

5:00 p.m. R1 12 Gamely (6 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 4 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 54kg. He overdid it last time, but has the senior rider aboard and rates a top three chance.

6:30 p.m. R4 10 Rock N Roll (5 g El Roca - Lola Bettle) - Mohd Zaki; drew barrier 2 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 2000 metres on turf and carries 50.5kg. His previous runs give the indication of him liking this distance and he has first five claims.

7:00 p.m. R5 1 Our Secret Weapon (4 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - CC Wong; drew barrier 5 of 10 in $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 59kg. He was far too wide last start, and he rates a top three prospect in a race with two stable representatives.

7:00 p.m. R5 7 Qiji Star (5g Star Witness - Galeisha) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 4 of 10 in $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 50.5kg. He has trialled, comes in fresh, and is a top five proposition if he does things right.

7:30 p.m. R6 2 Entertainer (5 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 4 of 8 in $85,000 Class 2 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 55.5kg. A last start course/distance winner, he remains in the same grade and rates strong each-way chance in another race featuring a stable duo.

7:30 p.m. R6 4 King Arthur (4 g I Am Invincible - Pentasia) - CC Wong; drew barrier 1 of 8 in $85,000 Class 2 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 53.5kg. He has been flying this prep (four wins on end) and comes in to the race with a big chance.

8:00 p.m. R7 1 Broadway Success (6 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 3 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. He missed the kick last start, eradicating his chances, however he is ideally drawn (3) today and is capable of a first four finish if he does things right - the first of two for the trainer..

8:00 p.m. R7 2 Diamond Ring (5 g Super Easy - Donna Marie) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 11 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 59kg. He does possess gate speed, but requires luck from the awkward draw (11).

9:00 p.m. R9 2 High Water (4 g Rubick - Purringa) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 2 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 56kg. Fresh-up, he is ideally drawn (2), enjoys weight relief and has first four claims - one of two for the team.

9:00 p.m. R9 8 Super Posh (6 g Super Easy - Posh Bec) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 9 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 56.5kg. He comes in with very good course/distance stats, and rates a top four chance with luck from the tricky gate (9).

10:30 p.m. R12 10 Good Fight (4 g Super One - Bella Elegante) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 6 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 51.5kg. He meets a strong field and thus presents as a rough place chance.
