Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

 

Te Akau Singapore has 14 horses entered on Saturday 19 March at Kranji.

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and Mark Walker returned home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who leaves in May to train in Hong Kong. 

Since Te Akau established its Singapore stable in 2010, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins,. He was also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

 

6:00 p.m. R3 5 Silent Partner (6 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - Simon Kok (a1); drew barrier 6 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. While he seems better on turf, he nonetheless rates a top four chance, the first of two in the race for the stable.

6:00 p.m. R3 7 Cosmic Sands (4 g Pride of Dubai - Galileo's Daughter) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 9 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 49.5kg. Today is his first time up to the mile, however he can be quite one-paced, so see how he goes.

7:00 p.m. R5 4 Te Akau Ben (4 g Tavistock - Danalaga) - Jake Bayliss; drew outside barrier (7) in $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He put in a good effort on debut for fourth, has trialled well since and presents as a strong each way chance.

7:30 p.m. R6 1 God's Gift (5 g Haradasun - Criquette) - Ismadi Amirul (a1); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 58kg. He is placed on the course and at the distance, but does need to improve - the first of a stable trio contesting this 1400m race.

7:30 p.m. R6 3 Pasir Pinji (5 g Nadeem - Mistaar) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 2 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55.5kg. He rates a value place chance at best.

7:30 p.m. R6 5 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Azman Zyrul (a2); drew barrier 3 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55.5kg. He went okay last time and can deliver a first five finish.

8:00 p.m. R7 12 Wednesday (4 g Super One - Shufetish) - CC Wong; drew barrier 6 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 50kg. Carrying a competitive light weight, he rates a top four chance.

8:00 p.m. R7 13 Gamely (6 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - unfixed; drew barrier 5 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. Sitting first on the ballot, he is unlikely to gain a start.

9:00 p.m. R9 10 Accumulation (7 g Rip Van Winkle - Vega Sicila) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 49.5kg. Another carrying a light weight, he presents as an each-way chance.

9:30 p.m. R10 6 Minister (6 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 9 of 12 in $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 54.5kg. Preparing for the Group 1 Kranji Mile, he will be better suited up in distance - two stable reps line up in the event.

9:30 p.m. R10 8 Makkem Lad (6 g Kuroshio - Larksong) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 10 of 12 in $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 50kg. Loves both the track and the distance, but has copped a tough draw (10), nonetheless he rates a first four chance with any rub of the green.

9:30 p.m. R10 13 Entertainer (5 g Zoustar - Laughing) - unfixed; drew barrier 6 of 12 in $100,000 Class 1 1200 metres on turf and carries 50kg. First on the ballot, he is unlikely to make the field.

10:30 p.m. R12 4 Eagle Eye (7 g Pure Prize - Miss Tessi) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 3 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. Resuming after consecutive wins in November, he is capable of a first four finish.

10:30 p.m. R12 Aftermath (4 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - unfixed; drew barrier 1 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. At number two on the ballot, he seems unlikely to make the field.
