Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
26 March, 2022
Te Akau Singapore has 18 horses entered on Saturday 26 March at Kranji.
Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and Mark Walker returned home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who leaves in May to train in Hong Kong.
Since Te Akau established its Singapore stable in 2010 at Kranji, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, he was also runner-up three times, as well as third and fourth.
5:00 p.m. R1 9 Super Posh (6 g Super Easy - Posh Bec) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 54kg. Drawn barrier 13 makes it tough in this sprint affair.
5:00 p.m. R1 14 Our Secret Weapon (4 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - CC Wong; drew outside barrier (12) in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 55.5kg. Ballot two, he is unlikely to gain start.
5:30 p.m. R2 1 Deception (3 g I Am Invincible - Friday Hussy) - CC Wong; drew barrier 7 of 8 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1600 metres on turf and carries 57kg. He is a class horse, and today it's his first time at the mile - he rates a top three chance.
6:00 p.m. R3 1 Reignite (4 g Sebring - Risk Aversion) - CC Wong; drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 58kg. Unfortunately this previous Class record holder has drawn wide (11), however he rates a top five finisher with luck, which he will need plenty of from that gate.
6:30 p.m. R4 8 Gamely (6 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 52kg. Ultra consistent, he rates a top four prospect with any luck from another awkward gate (9) - two in the event for the stable.
6:30 p.m. R4 12 Broadway Success (6 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - CC Wong; drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. He is capable of a top five finish but he will need a ton of luck from the wide draw (11).
7:00 p.m. R5 5 Silent Partner (6 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1800 metres on turf and carries 50kg. He is looking for improvement on the turf - one of a trio entered for the trainer.
7:00 p.m. R5 7 Cosmic Sands (4 g Pride of Dubai - Galileo's Daughter) - Oscar Chavez; drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1800 metres on turf and carries 51.5kg. He is also looking for improvement on the turf and any rain will work to his advantage.
7:00 p.m. R5 9 Mystery Power (5 g No Nay Never - Gems) - Simon Kok (a1); drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1800 metres on turf and carries 50.5kg. Drawn ace, he rates a top four prospect.
7:00 p.m. R5 13 Buddy Buddy (7 g Dubawi - Born Something) - Ismadi Amirul (a1); drew outside barrier (12) in the $50,000 Class 4 1800 metres on turf and carries 49.5kg. Ballot one, he is unlikely to gain start.
7:30 p.m. R6 11 Qiji Star (Star Witness - Galeisha) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 50.5kg. He rates a rough place chance as he will need lots of luck from his awkward draw (9).
8:00 p.m. R7 10 High Water (4 g Rubick - Purringa) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 48.5kg. A last start winner, he does however face a tougher assignment here.
8:30 p.m. R8 13 Hidden Promise (9 g Postponed - Promissory) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 50kg. Ballot one, he is unlikely to gain start.
8:30 p.m. R8 14 Foresto (7 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - unfixed; drew outside barrier (12) in the $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. Ballot two, he is unlikely to gain start.
9:30 p.m. R10 4 Golden Flame (7 g Mossman - Autumnconcerto) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf carries 53.5kg. He is capable of a first four finish.
10:00 p.m. R11 5 Speedy Missile (5 g Smart Missile - Telegraph Girl) - CC Wong; drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 56.5kg. Ideally drawn (2), he rates top three claims - one of a stable trio.
10:00 p.m. R11 7 Aftermath (4 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Harry Kasim; drew outside barrier (12) in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 53kg. Drawn barrier 12 makes it a very tough assignment.
10:00 p.m. R11 11 Good Fight (4 g Super One - Bella Elegante) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 47.5kg. He's drawn barrier 11 makes it a very difficult ask.
