Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 17 horses entered on Saturday 30 April at Kranji.

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and Mark Walker returned home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who finished in March and leaves in May to train in Hong Kong. 

Since setting up stables in 2010, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

 

4:00 p.m. R1 13 Broadway Success (6 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 6 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 50.5kg. Ballot one, unlikely to gain a start.

4:00 p.m. R1 15 Qiji Star (Star Witness - Galeisha) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 47kg. Ballot three, unlikely to gain a start.

4:30 p.m. R2 1 Flashfast (3 g Dream Ahead - Ohmygod) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 4 of 9 in $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1400 metres on turf and carries 57kg. Ideally drawn (4), top rider aboard, he rates a top three chance.

5:00 p.m. R3 2 Speedy Missile (5 g Smart Missile - Telegraph Girl) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 9 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. Unlucky last start, he rates a top three chance with luck from awkward draw (9).

5:00 p.m. R3 7 Aftermath (4 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 2 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 48.5kg. Light weight and good draw (2), but required to improve.

6:00 p.m. R5 5 Entertainer (5 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $85,000 Kranji Stakes B 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kg. Near dropping in grade and better suited over shorter trip.

6:30 p.m. R6 4 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Jake Bayliss; drew outside barrier (12) in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. He rates a top three chance with luck from draw (12).

6:30 p.m. R6 6 Hidden Promise (9 g Postponed - Promissory) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 3 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 49kg. Good course/distance stats, ideally drawn (3), mixes his efforts but capable of solid performance.

7:00 p.m. R7 2 Eagle Eye (7 g Pure Prize - Miss Tessi) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 4 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. Produced a huge run last start and he rates a top four chance.

7:00 p.m. R7 7 Silent Partner (6 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 9 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 52kg. He found trouble last start, suited course/distance and receives chance to improve.

7:00 p.m. R7 8 Axel (6 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 5 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 49kg. Much improved last start, light weight and he rates a rough place chance.

7:30 p.m. R8 2 Hadeer (6 g Savabeel - A Real Princess) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 2 of 12 in $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf carries 57kg. He likes turf, suited by long course and ideally drawn (2) to rate a top four chance.

7:30 p.m. R8 9 Brutus (5 g Rubick - Harvest Queen) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 3 of 12 in $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on turf carries 54.5kg. Last start winner, top rider, nicely drawn (3) and he rates a top three chance.

8:00 p.m. R9 8 Eastiger (7 g Magic Albert - Quite Astute) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 11 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. Big run last start on poly-track, but rates a top four chance with luck from draw (11).

8:30 p.m. R10 9 Minister (6 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Harry Kasim; drew outside barrier (11) in $100,000 Class 1 1400 metres on turf and carries 50kg. He missed start last time, preparing to defend Kranji Mile (Gr. 1, 1600m) title in May, suited to 1400 metres but requires luck from draw (11).

9:00 p.m. R11 1 Reignite(4 g Sebring - Risk Aversion) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 9 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 57kg. Leading jockey aboard, but prefer when back on poly-track.

9:00 p.m. R11 6 Silent Is Gold(3 g Star Turn - Confident) - Ronald Stewart; drew barrier 5 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 52.5kg. He would be better suited in Maiden grade.
