Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
Date: 28 May 2022
Te Akau Singapore has 12 horses entered on Saturday 28 May at Kranji.
Following two wins last Saturday, Te Akau trainer Donna Logan moved into second place on the premiership table.
Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over on 1 January from Mark Walker, who returned home to train the Te Akau team at Matamata.
Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
5:30 p.m. R2 1 Flashfast (3 g Dream Ahead - Ohmygod) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 3 of 6 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1600 metres on turf and carries 57kg. He posted a good second last start, is suited stepping to the mile, and he rates a top three chance.
6:30 p.m. R4 6 Olympia (4 g Gingerbread Man - Second Omen) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 56.5kg. He has a short sprint and requires luck from the tough draw (11) to finish in the first four.
6:30 p.m. R4 13 Super Posh (6 g Super Easy - Posh Bec) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 53.5kg. Ballot one, he is unlikely to gain a start.
6:30 p.m. R4 16 Our Secret Weapon (4 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - unfixed; drew barrier 5 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. Ballot four, he is unlikely to gain a start.
7:00 p.m. R5 6 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Oscar Chavez; drew outside barrier (9) in the $20,000 Maiden 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 51kg. Placed in three from four course/distance and he rates top three.
7:30 p.m. R6 8 God's Gift (5 g Haradasun - Criquette) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. First and third, respectively, in last two starts - he has first four claims, one of a stable duo contesting this event.
7:30 p.m. R6 12 Foresto (7 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 49kg. He needs to improve to make an impact.
8:30 p.m. R8 3 Mystery Power (5 g No Nay Never - Gems) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 55.5kg. He gets back, so needs a good tempo, but rates a top three chance if all goes to plan.
9:00 p.m. R9 8 Gamely (6 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. Unlucky last start, he is suited by the course/distance and he rates a top three prospect.
9:00 p.m. R9 16 Qiji Star (Star Witness - Galeisha) - unfixed; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 50kg. Ballot four, he is unlikely to gain start.
9:30 p.m. R10 2 Axel (6 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 4 of 8 in the $50,000 Class 4 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. Racing very well and he rates a top three chance.
10:00 p.m. R11 11 Elliot Ness (4 g Written Tycoon - Walk With Attitude) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 49.5kg. He is close to a drop back to Class 5 which suits, but still has top four prospects here.
