Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 14 horses entered on Saturday 9 July at Kranji.

Te Akau Singapore trainer Donna Logan is currently second on the Trainers' Premiership table.

Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over on 1 January from Mark Walker, who returned home to train the Te Akau team at Matamata.

Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

4:00 p.m. R1 3 Elliot Ness (4 g Written Tycoon - Walk With Attitude) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 4 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 55.5kg. He has a good draw (4), holds the poly-track record for 1100 metres and rates a top three chance - one of a stable duo in the first race on the programme.

4:00 p.m. R1 10 Super Posh (6 g Super Easy - Posh Bec) - Ronnie Stewart; drew outside barrier (11) in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 55.5kg. While he is yet to win at 1100 metres, he posted a good second last start but barrier 11 makes the task a difficult one.

4:30 p.m. R2 1 Trident (3 g Deep Field - Miss Fi) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 9 of 10 in $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1400 metres on turf and carries 54kg. He ran a very good race on debut for second behind stable-mate Charminton (Charm Spirit), and has improved - the likely favourite, he certainly rates a top three prospect.

5:00 p.m. R3 3 Mystery Power (5 g No Nay Never - Gems) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 8 of 10 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 57.5kg.  A course/distance winner, he appears to run better sectionals when coming from behind. The top jockey will suit and he rates a top three contender - the first of two in the race for the trainer.

5:00 p.m. R3 10 Eastiger (7 g Magic Albert - Quite Astute) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew outside barrier (10) in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 51.5kg. He has great stats on this track, beings a light weight advantage into play and has first four claims.

5:30 p.m. R4 8 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 8 of 9 in $20,000 Maiden 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 47kg. Backing up from racing last Saturday, he has placed three times from his last six starts on the poly. He is expected to go forward into the first three and should suit the riding style of his jockey.

6:00 p.m. R5 1 Axel (6 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); drew barrier 3 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 54kg. Te Akau's indentured apprentice is having his second race day ride on this horse that returns from a break and is back in distance. A highly consistent campaigner, his record is okay on the poly track and the hope is to see him finishing strongly.

7:00 p.m. R7 5 Minister (6 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 7 of 9 in $100,000 Kranji Stakes A 2000 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He has finished second in two starts at the distance, delivered a good run last time and he rates a top four chance.

7:30 p.m. R8 4 Diamond Ring (5 g Super Easy - Donna Marie) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 3 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 57kg.  He was narrowly beaten after racing three wide last time, has good distance stats, and should receive the run of the race from his handy draw (3). He presents as a winning chance and definitely a top three competitor.

8:00 p.m. R9 3 Eagle Eye (7 g Pure Prize - Miss Tessi) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 4 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 52kg. He went another solid race last start with the fastest sectional, has good distance stats, and looks a winning chance, certainly with top four credentials - one of two in the race for the stable.

8:00 p.m. R9 11 Silent Partner (7 g Dandy Man - Dolce Dovo) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 9 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 51kg. He does have barrier issues, so is required to put it all together to play a part - he needs to improve.

9:00 p.m. R11 4 Flashfast (3 g Dream Ahead - Ohmygod) - Danny Beasley; drew barrier 4 of 12 in $150,000 Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic (Gr. 2, 1400m) on turf and carries 57kg. He is a talented young galloper, winning his last two starts, and should be running it out strongly as a top four chance in very good field - another event where the stable lines up a pair of runners.

9:00 p.m. R11 7 Deception (3 g I Am Invincible - Friday Hussy) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew outside barrier (12) in $150,000 Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic (Gr. 2, 1400m) on turf and carries 56kg. He got back in the Singapore Three-Year-Old Sprint (Gr. 3, 1200m) which was run at breakneck speed and lost all chance. However with any luck from the wide draw (12) it would not be surprising to see him in the finish.

9:35 p.m. R12 5 Legacy Fortune (3 g Dragon Pulse - Gold Zain) - Ronnie Stewart; drew barrier 9 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. Lightly raced here after winning three times in Ireland, the trainer is hoping to see improvement over 1200 metres but he may be better suited on turf.
