Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has nine horses entered on Saturday 5 November at Kranji.

Te Akau trainer Donna Logan leads the Singapore Trainers' Premiership with 56 wins this year.

Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over on 1 January from Mark Walker, who returned home to train the Te Akau team at Matamata.

Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

5:30 p.m. R2 3 Dark Show (3 g Shamexpress - Don't Worry) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 8 of 9 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 52.5kg. His saddle slipped on debut and therefore makes it difficult to assess the form he brings into this event.

6:00 p.m. R3 3 Trident (4 g Deep Field - Miss Fi) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 56kg. He's posted two wins and two second placings from five starts, so is deservedly one of favourites and has strong top three prospects - the first of a stable trio lining up in the third race on the programme.

6:00 p.m. R3 5 Eagle Eye (8 g Pure Prize - Miss Tessi) - Simon Kok (a1); drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 54.5kg. He is a course/distance winner and he rates a top three chance.

6:00 p.m. R3 10 Champagne Finale (7 g All Too Hard - Grande Annee) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 48.5kg. He won surprisingly last start, but his best opportunity is if the track is wet.

8:00 p.m. R7 7 Entertainer (6 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew outside barrier (11) in the $85,000 Class 2 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 49.5kg. He brings a good record into play here, both distance & track, and has definite first four claims with any luck from outside gate (11).

8:30 p.m. R8 3 Axel (7 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Louis Beuzelin; drew barrier 1 of 9 in the $50,000 Class 4 1800 metres on the poly-track and carries 56.5kg. He possesses good stats and as "Mr Consistency", he looks a first three prospect.

9:30 p.m. R10 2 Minister (6 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 1 of 8 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on the turf and carries 54.5kg. He delivered a fantastic run for third in the $300,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (Gr. 1, 1800m), and looks to have turned the corner. He is using this as a lead-up to the Singapore Gold Cup (Gr. 1, 2000m), and while the mile could be too short, he should be in top four calculations.

9:30 p.m. R10 7 Super Impact (5 g Real Impact - Trick) - Ronnie Stewart; drew barrier 4 of 8 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on the turf and carries 50kg. He is one of the best up-and-coming stayers in Singapore, presents as a top three proposition and a win would qualify him for the Singapore Gold Cup (Gr. 1, 2000m).

10:00 p.m. R11 3 Stenmark (5 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1200 metres on the turf and carries 52.5kg. Unfortunately he has copped a wide draw (11) which makes this a tough assignment, but he ran out a strong are for third last time, meets a strong field and the fingers are crossed, looking for a clean getaway.
