Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview
Date: 1 Apr 2023
Te Akau Singapore has 10 horses entered on Saturday 1 April at Kranji.
Te Akau Singapore trainer Donna Logan ended her first season finishing second in the premiership, and currently fourth. Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022.
Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
5:00 p.m. R1 2 Our Secret Weapon (5 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 8 of 11 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 55kg. Suited dropping back to 1000 metres, he enjoys weight relief, and rates a top four chance.
6:00 p.m. R3 7 Elliot Ness (5 g Written Tycoon - Walk With Attitude) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew outside barrier (12) in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 48kg. He has ability, and can improve second-up, but requires luck from the wide draw (12).
6:30 p.m. R4 1 Te Akau Ben (5 g Tavistock - Danalaga) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he drew barrier 3 of 10 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 55.5kg. He returns from injury today, has ability and rates a top three prospect.
6:30 p.m. R4 2 Briggs (4 g Rubick - High Ace) - Louis Beuzelin; he drew barrier 1 of 10 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 57.5kg. Better suited in this grade, the ace draw helps and look for him to be in the thick of things at the business end.
6:30 p.m. R4 6 Rahotu (6 g Invincible Spirit - Insoumise) - Saleh Shafrizal (a1); he drew barrier 7 of 10 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 57.5kg. He is looking to improve.
7:00 p.m. R5 9 Winning Stride (4 g Wrote - Tossed and Turned) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the poly-track and carries 51kg. He brings good form into play, the mile should suit, and looks a first three chance.
9:00 p.m. R9 4 Charminton (4 g Charm Spirit - Sarzana) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he drew barrier 1 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 53.5kg. He is better than recent form may suggest, the distance should suit, and he ideally drawn to have first four claims.
9:00 p.m. R9 7 Fadaboy (4 g Deep Field - Ezee Ezee) - Simon Kok (a1); he drew barrier 9 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 51.5kg. He has been posting good sectional times lately and presents as rough place chance with any luck from the awkward draw (9).
9:30 p.m. R10 10 Stenmark (5 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 2 of 10 in the $85,000 Class 2 1400 metres on the turf and carries 46kg. He meets a hot field, but has the benefit of a light weight and can race competitively if he jumps cleanly.
10:00 p.m. R11 6 Entertainer (6 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he drew outside barrier (12) in the $70,000 Class 3 1200m on the poly-track and carries 54kg. Back in grade, he is another stable starter that requires luck from a wide draw (12).
