Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has ten horses racing on Sunday 12 January at Kranji. Trainer Mark Walker ended last season (Dec. 8) with 73 wins to claim his third title as Singapore Champion Trainer, and leads the way with five wins this year.

6.00 p.m. R1 11 Dee Mak Mak (4 g O'Reilly - Best Command) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a4); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly track and carries 50kgs. He claims to a light weight, but requires luck from the draw (11).

7.00 p.m. R3 6 Clarton Star  (4 g Highly Recommended - Annabel Rose) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 13 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. He finished fourth last Sunday, but requires luck from the draw (13).

8.00 p.m. R5 2 Cousteau  (5 g Exceed and Excel - Maritime) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a4); drew barrier 3 of 9 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 54kgs. Ideally drawn (3) and rates a strong top four contender.

8.30 p.m. R6 6 Barbarian  (3 g Redoute's Choice - Fume Blanc) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 9 of 11 in the $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on turf and carries 54kgs. He never handled the poly track last start and improvement expected on turf.

9.05 p.m. R7 2 Black Quail (6 g Coats Choice - Sefidi) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a4); drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kgs. Drops in class, love some rain, and he rates a strong top four chance.

9.05 p.m. R7 8 Pearl King  (7 g Iffraaj - Nuance) - Thangamani Krisna (a3); drew barrier 5 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kgs. In good order and he can improve back on turf.

9.05 p.m. R7 10 Hidden Promise  (7 g Postponed - Promissory) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 12 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 57kgs. Will be ridden patiently from the draw (12) but should go well with luck.

10.35 p.m. R10 10 Clarton Palace  (4 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf on carries 53kgs. Ideally drawn (1) but he may require more distance.

10.35 p.m. R10 12 Sportscaster  (6 g Fastnet Rock - Gypsy Dancer) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a4); drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf on carries 47.5kgs. Carries a light weight, fresh, and he rates a place chance.
