Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker again leads the Trainers' Premiership - now with 38 wins (a lead of three) since 1 January (as at 27.5.16).

Sunday 29 May

4.55 p.m. R1 6 STORM TROOPER - Manuel Nunes; two stable runners line up in the first on the long course (turf) C, this son of Tavistock the first of the pair.  He has the nightmare draw of 15 (will likely jump from 13) and carries 58kgs.  He steps up to 1400m and if there is rain about, he rates a top four chance.

4.55 p.m. R1 9 Q NINE MAGIC - Shafiq Rusof; the stable's second runner in this field of 14 has not drawn much better than his stablemate at 14 and carries 56.5kgs. So another terrible draw and he probably needs an easier grade which he will get back to in due course.

5.55 p.m. R3 3 BRAHMS AND LISZT - Shafiq Rusof; the two time former champion apprentice rides this grand campaigner who to date has won S$197,536 in Singapore. Carrying 57.5kgs, he will jump from gate 12 and with his solid form, he rates a top five chance.

6.25 p.m. R4 9 WALTER'S BAY - Shafiq Rusof; he draws barrier nine in a field of 12 and carries 57kgs in the restricted maiden for 2&3YO under WFA conditions. His third start on Sunday and with two trials under his belt, the trainer will be looking for improvement.

7.25 p.m. R6 3 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - Manuel Nunes; on debut in Singapore, this 3YO son of Irish sire Daliapour has drawn handily (4) and will carry 56kgs in the compact field of eight for the S$65,000 Initiation 1100m on the polytrack.  He looks to need more distance and will be built towards that.

8.25 p.m. R8 5 DAMON - Manuel Nunes; drawn seven of 10 with the top jock. aboard and 58kgs. He was won three and placed seven times in only 12 Singapore starts, already with over S$120,000 in stakes.  He resumes here after a short break and whilst 1200m might be a touch short, he does race very well fresh.

9.00 p.m. R9 1 MY LUCKY STRIKE - A Da Silva; this son of Charge Forward has been something of a stable star in his 17 starts to date - winning eight and placing eight further times - with S$519,817 in prize money earned. In the S$300,000 Group 2 Stewards' Cup on the long course C (turf) he has the nightmare draw (14) unfortunately and will carry 57kgs. First time over 1400m on the turf and he will need a ton of luck from the horror draw in a capacity field.

9.35 p.m. R10 4 TURQUOISE KING - Shafiq Rusof; draws well (5) and will carry 56kgs for the former Te Akau champion apprentice.  He gets to 1400m on the turf and needs to improve - may need to drop back in class to see that.

10.05 p.m. R11 2 ASPEN - Shafiq Rusof; the last stable runner in the final event has drawn gate three and will carry 58kgs.  A winner in this class three starts ago, he has disappointed in his last two but with the excuse of awkward barrier draws.  He is nice and fresh for this but may need rain to show his best in this 13 strong field.
