Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
4 April, 2021
Te Akau Singapore has 20 horses entered on Sunday 4 April at Kranji.
Currently second, trainer Mark Walker ended a pandemic interrupted season (27 Dec.) in second place with 45 wins. He was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), and 2019, runner-up twice, third, and fourth, since Te Akau established a stable in 2010 at Kranji Racecourse.
5.00 p.m. R1 2 Amazing Choice (6 g Shocking - Choices Are) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly-track and carries 54kg. A last start winner, he rates a top four chance from a handy barrier. One of two in the race for trainer Mark Walker.
5.00 p.m. R1 10 Hidden Promise (8 g Postponed - Promissory) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly-track and carries 53kg. He finds the right race to also be a competitive top four chance along with his stablemate above.
5.30 p.m. R2 14 Lady Roxanne (3 f Darci Brahma - Kindred) - unfixed; drew barrier 13 of 14 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1400 metres on turf and carries 55.5kg. She currently is number two on the ballot, and looks unlikely to gain a start.
6.00 p.m. R3 4 Cousteau (6 g Exceed and Excel - Maritime) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 56.5kg. He's a real campaigner this horse who, from the way he finished off for second last time presented, shows he has first four claims.
6.30 p.m. R4 1 Showbound (4 g Showcasing - Midnight Senorita) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on the poly-track and carries 56.5kg. A race where the stable has three starters, the first does shape as a winning chance.
6.30 p.m. R4 8 Take A Chance (3 g Star Witness - Hilylia) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on the poly-track and carries 55.5kgs. He comes in to this race fit, and does look a place prospect.
6.30 p.m. R4 9 Marcus Antonius (3 g Sepoy - Panda's Turn) - Louis Beuzelin; drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on the poly-track and carries 55.5kg. He is better suited to more distance.
7.00 p.m. R5 2 Barbeque (5 g Helmet - Heat of the Fire) - Marc Lerner; drew the outside barrier (12) in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 58kg. This is a horse that is capable of atop four finish on the turf, but he will require luck from his awkward draw.
7.00 p.m. R5 14 Broadway Success (5 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - unfixed; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 56.5kg. Currently he is second on the ballot and a start looks unlikely.
7.30 p.m. R6 7 Our Secret Weapon (3 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - CC Wong; drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 51.5kg. Given the tough draw he has to navigate, he looks a place prospect.
7.30 p.m. R6 11 Wednesday (3 g Super One - Shufetish) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 47kg. He has been disappointing to date and will need to step up to make an impact here.
7.30 p.m. R6 12 Barbarian (4 g Redoute's Choice - Fume Blanc) - Jerlyn Seow (a4); drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $20,000 Maiden 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries 46kg. He too has been disappointing and may be better suited to racing in Malaysia.
8.30 p.m. R8 14 Sportscaster (7 g Fastnet Rock - Gypsy Dancer) - unfixed; drew barrier 9 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly-track and carries 58kg. Another currently sitting a two on the ballot, he looks unlikely to gain a start.
9.00 p.m. R9 3 Sacred Rebel (6 g Sepoy - Pandoro De Lago) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $100,000 Kranji Stakes A 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. Three is this for Mark Walker and this 6YO does seem to prefer the polytrack but with this event the only option, he still rates a place chance.
9.00 p.m. R9 4 Zac Kasa (6 g Reset - Unabated) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $100,000 Kranji Stakes A 1200 metres on turf and carries 55kg. The second for the stable, he is enjoying good form, and is improved for his first-up run - he can certainly figure in the finish.
9.00 p.m. R9 7 Augustano (6 g Hardspun - Lady of Letters) - Mohd Zaki; drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $100,000 Kranji Stakes A 1200 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He requires a drop to Class 3 to make his presence felt.
9.30 p.m. R10 1 Sacred Gift (5 g Zoustar - Calcatta) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 59kg. He is a horse that is currently in good form, and to aid his prospects, he is ideally drawn (4), and has the champion rider engaged.
10.00 p.m. R11 10 Savvy Command (4 g Savabeel - Best Command) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew the outside barrier (12) in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf and carries 49kg. He rates a place chance with luck from the carpark draw.
10.00 p.m. R11 13 Street Cry Success (6 g Street Cry - Koala Bear) - unfixed; drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on turf and carries 50kg. Ballot one, he looks unlikely to gain a start.
10.30 p.m. R12 6 Entertainer(4 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Aiman Kamaruddin (a3); drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 51.5kg. In great form, he rates a top four prospect with luck from the wide gate (11).
