Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has seven horses entered on Sunday 28 August at Kranji.

Te Akau trainer Donna Logan is first equal atop the Trainers' Premiership.

Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over on 1 January from Mark Walker, who returned home to train the Te Akau team at Matamata.

Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

4:00 p.m. R1 8 Eastiger (8 g Magic Albert - Quite Astute) - Vlad Duric; drew barrier 9 of 10 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 57kg. Impressed winning last start with Duric aboard, this is a tougher race but he nonetheless rates a top three chance.

4:30 p.m. R2 4 Luxury Brand (3 g Charm Spirit - Miss Gucci) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew the outside barrier (9) in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1100 metres on turf and carries 55kg. He has shown ability on both turf and poly-track, finishing a close second in both starts, has gate speed and rates a top three prospect with any luck from the tricky draw (9).

5:00 p.m. R3 3 God's Gift (6 g Haradasun - Criquette) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 54.5kg. A winner to 1700 metres, he is suited up to 1400 metres, enjoys weight relief and looks a rough place chance.

6:00 p.m. R5 3 Rocky (4 g El Roca - Anthology) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 5 of 9 in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 57.5kg. He appreciated the addition of blinkers last time and has first four claims.

6:30 p.m. R6 9 Foresto (8 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 7 of 10 in the $30,000 Class 5 2000 metres on turf and carries 48kg. He needs to improve to make an impact.

7:30 p.m. R8 3 Flashfast (4 g Dream Ahead - Ohmygod) - Jake Bayliss; drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400m on turf and carries 56kg. He drops back in class following a good sixth in the Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic (Gr. 2, 1400m) and presents as a top three chance.

8:30 p.m. R10 4 Our Secret Weapon (5 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 55.5kg. Both of his wins have come over 1000 metres, but he has placed at 1100 metres, is ideally drawn (3), and could finish in the top four - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

8:30 p.m. R10 10 Diamond Ring (6 g Super Easy - Donna Marie) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 52.5kg. He is a course/distance winner and he rates a top four chance.

9:30 p.m. R12 8 Aftermath (5 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Fadzli Yusoff (a2); drew barrier 7 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 50kg. He was a strong last start winner, and does go up in grade but rates a top four chance with right trip.
