Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 41 wins since 1 January.

4.55 p.m. R1 4 MOLLY BROWNE - Oscar Chavez; the stable lines up two starters in the first race of the day.  Drawn out at 11, this 4YO mare carries 57 kgs in the 12 strong Class 5 field. Back to this grade, the distance will be a touch short for her but expect her to be running on - a top five chance.

4.55 p.m. R1 7 MISS WAIMATAITAI - Shafiq Rizuan; the second mare in the opening event for Mark Walker doesn't draw much better than her stablemate (12) and will carry 56.5kgs.  Her performance depends on her barrier manners - if she is in a good mood and jumps well she is capable of a top four finish.

5.55 p.m. R3 3 COURT CASE - Shafiq Rizuan; has drawn nicely at two and carries 56kgs.  Facing 10 opponents, he is in great form.  Although on a relatively quick back up, his work during the week was very good - he presents as a top four chance.

6.55 p.m. R5 5 DISTINCTIVE DARCI - Corey Brown; Mark Walker lines up two juveniles in this S$90,000 2YO feature which has attracted a field of 12 starters.  The first will be ridden by the top Australian rider, has a wide gate (12) to navigate and 57kgs on his back.  On debut, a lovely type but unfortunately he will need huge luck from the barrier.  Mark him down as a horse to follow in the future - a top five chance if he can get any luck in the running. 

6.55 p.m. R5 7 HATTA - Manuel Nunes; the second youngster has the top jockey aboard, has drawn barrier seven and is weighted with 57kgs.  Another debutant for the stable, he too is a lovely colt and has been working well during the week.  Also no favours from the draw but on his work, a top four chance.

7.25 p.m. R6 4 EATON'S GOLD - Shafiq Rizuan; this hardy campaigner is another to fare badly draw-wise (10) and he carries 58kgs in this 11-strong line-up.  He finds a tough field here and he will be reassessed after today.

10.05 p.m. R11 1 CLUTHA LAD - Shafiq Rizuan; the two time former champion apprentice takes the mount aboard this consistent son of Thorn Park who has drawn sweetly (2) and carries 57kgs. One of two in the race for the stable, he is back to Class 4, finding Class 3 company a bit tough.  Even though 1200m is a bit short he poses a top five chance.  

10.05 p.m. R11 4 ARC CARA - Manuel Nunes; the second Mark Walker runner in the field of 12 has also drawn well (3) and carries 54kgs.  An english horse having his first start, a lovely type and today is an ideal career starting point for a horse that looks as though he will be better over more distance.
