Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
Date: 23 Apr 2023
Te Akau Singapore has 11 horses entered on Sunday 23 April at Kranji. Te Akau Singapore trainer Donna Logan ended her first season finishing second in the premiership, and currently fourth.
Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022.
Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
4:30 p.m. R2 8 Maximum Control (3 g Written Tycoon - Alcatraz) - Louis Beuzelin; he drew barrier 3 of 12 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1400 metres on the turf and carries 57kg. Ideally drawn (3) for his debut today and he should take good experience and improvement from his first Singapore outing.
5:15 p.m. R3 9 Elliot Ness (5 g Written Tycoon - Walk With Attitude) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 48kg. He posted an eye-catching run last start for second, is ideally drawn (5), is a course/distance track record holder, and has first four claims.
7:15 p.m. R7 8 Wednesday (5 g Super One - Shufetish) - Saleh Shafrizal (a1); he drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 50.5kg. A course/distance winner, he needs to begin well to rate a top four chance.
7:15 p.m. R7 10 Foresto (8 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 5 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the poly-track and carries 47kg. Light weight, he comes in fresh, but is required to improve to make an impression in this.
7:50 p.m. R8 6 Montana Flash (4 g Star Turn - Dukemore) - Louis Beuzelin; he drew barrier 10 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly-track and carries 54kg. He has trialled well and comes in fresh, and while better at 1400 metres, he should be finding the line well and take improvement from the run.
8:50 p.m. R10 1 Minister (7 g Street Sense - Light and Variable) - Michael Kellady; he drew barrier 11 of 12 in the $85,000 Class 2 1600 metres on the turf and carries 57kg. He trialled well coming in to this, but the draw (11) makes it tough - he does however rate a top three chance in this class.
9:25 p.m. R11 11 Stenmark (5 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 11 of 13 in the $150,000 E W Barker Trophy (Gr. 2, 1400m) on the turf and carries just 46kg. He meets hot field, but he has a light weight and can race competitively as long as he has luck from the tricky draw (11).
9:25 p.m. R11 13 Trident (4 g Deep Field - Miss Fi) - Zyrul Azman (a2); he drew barrier 7 of 13 in the $150,000 E W Barker Trophy (Gr. 2, 1400m) on the turf and carries 48kg. A last start winner, he leaps in class but likes the distance and is provided with the chance to continue racing well.
10:00 p.m. R12 3 Aftermath (5 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 54kg. He enjoys racing on the turf, is ideally drawn (4), and rates a top four chance in an even field.
10:00 p.m. R12 6 Forget Romance (4 m All Too Hard - Romandie) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); she drew barrier 12 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. She won three times in Queensland, and is making her debut in Singapore. She will be ridden patiently from wide gate (12) and look to see her round off as a top four chance.
10:00 p.m. R12 11 Te Akau Ben (5 g Tavistock - Danalaga) - Bernardo Pinheiro; he drew outside barrier (14) in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He resumed from an injury lay-off with a fresh-up win. He has ability, but is up in grade and requires luck from outside alley (14).
