Date: 2 Jul 2023
Te Akau Singapore has 10 horses entered Sunday 2 July at Kranji.
Te Akau Singapore trainer Donna Logan ended her first season finishing second in the premiership, and currently sixth. Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022.
Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
4:30 p.m. R2 8 Santino (2 g Santos - Mercy's Choice) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he drew barrier 4 of 13 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He worked well ahead of his debut and has trained on well since, has the gate speed to utilise the draw (4) and rates a top three chance.
5:00 p.m. R3 7 Fadaboy (4 g Deep Field - Ezee Ezee) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 1 of 9 in the $50,000 Class 4 1000 metres on the poly-track and carries just 46kg. He does however likely require a drop in grade to Class 5 to make an impact.
5:30 p.m. R4 3 Artillery (2 g Smart Missile - Lycra Lass) - Simon Kok (a1); he drew barrier 10 of 14 in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on the turf and carries 56kg. He finished a very good second on debut and is expected to go well again, if he can secure any luck from barrier 10.
6:00 p.m. R5 11 Gamely (7 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 6 of 13 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf and carries the featherweight of 46kg. He has been working well in training, enjoys the light weight, and can feature if he is able to obtain a soft lead.
7:00 p.m. R7 6 Axel (7 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Marc Lerner; he drew barrier 5 of 9 in the $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf and carries 55.5kg. This model of consistency who seldom goes a bad race has had a good week in training, any rain would assist his chances, he runs home strongly and has definite first four claims.
8:30 p.m. R10 8 Trident (4 g Deep Field - Miss Fi) - Zyrul Azman (a2); he drew barrier 5 of 9 in the $70,000 Class 3 1600 metres on the turf and carries just 51.5kg. His work has been eye-catching, and while it's his first attempt at mile, he runs home well, and any rain assists his top four prospects.
9:00 p.m. R11 8 Montana Flash (4 g Star Turn - Dukemore) - Louis Beuzelin; he drew barrier 7 of 10 in the $150,000 Steward's Cup (Gr. 2, 1600m) on the turf and carries 57kg. He is a smart horse that hits the line strongly, is very fit and is expected to race well.
9:00 p.m. R11 10 Ahorsewithnoname (4 m Adelaide - Me No Marsh Potato) - Harry Kasim; she drew barrier 1 of 10 and also consists the $150,000 Steward's Cup (Gr. 2, 1600m) on the turf and is assigned 55.5kg. He too has enjoyed a good week leading in to this event, the blinkers are on, and expect a strong showing.
9:35 p.m. R12 4 Aftermath (5 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 3 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries only 52.5kg. Aided by the apprentice weight relief, he had had excuses at his last two starts, and should prove competitive - one of two in the event syndicated by the stable.
9:35 p.m. R12 6 Charminton (4 g Charm Spirit - Sarzana) - Yusoff Fadzli (a2); he unfortunately drew the outside barrier (14) in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 54kg. He brings good form to the event, and is very fit, but requires a major dose of luck from the outside gate (14) to rate a top four chance.
