Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 42 wins since 1 January.

Sunday 17 July -

5.50 p.m. R3 9 Q NINE MAGIC - App S Anandan (a1); to get the day's racing underway, Mark Waller's first stable runner has drawn gate six in this ten-horse Class 4 1400m on the short turf course D.  Carrying just 50kgs with the apprentice claim, he is coming off a good third but always tends to find this class a touch tough.  Notwithstanding that, he is in good forms and rates a top five chance.

6.20 p.m. R4 2 SECRET SPICE - Manuel Nunes; with the top rider aboard and a drop back to Class 5 company, this mare has an awkward draw (11) in this 12 horse line-up.  She carries 57kgs in the 1600m event over the short turf course D and in  division two.  The trainer would have preferred the long course for her but she's knocking on the door and in this grade, she rates a strong top four chance.

6.50 p.m. R5 3 STAR GENIUS - Manuel Nunes; this very consistent galloper has drawn nicely (3) and carries 56kgs in the S$75,000 Graduation SW 1200m also on the short turf course D.  With only six opponents this could become a race of tactics so the champion jockey aboard will be a great assist.  She is in very good form - a small but very competitive field - in witch she present as a top four chance.

7.55 p.m. R7 1 MY LUCKY STRIKE - Manuel Nunes; Mark Walker lines up two very smart gallopers in the S$100,000 feature, the Open Benchmark 97 over 1000m - with the first drawing well (2)and carrying the tope weight of 59kgs.  Facing a field of eight other runners on the polytrack, My Lucky Strike was a star for the stable last season being named Polytrack Horse of the Year.  Yet to win this season, he has however been going sound races and he gets his chance in this field - a strong top four chance.

7.55 p.m. R7 2 KAM'S COMET - Shafiq Rizuan; the second stable runner is also one with a formidable reputation.  To be ridden by Te Akau's former two time Champion Apprentice, he will jump from barrier seven and is weighted with 57kgs. Resuming tonight, he has strengthened up with his break and looks a picture fitness wise - a strong top four chance.

8.25 p.m. R8 4 MOLLY BROWNE - Shafiq Rizuan; another race with two stable representatives, the first being this mare who has drawn gate six in the 12 horse line-up.  Carrying 56.5kgs in the Class 5 mile back on the turf short course D, she finds a suitable race here and Shafiq knows her well.  She heads to Malaysia shortly but the trainer thinks she is capable of winning another race beforehand - a top four chance.

8.25 p.m. R8 6 ASHQAR - Manuel Nunes; the second stable runner has drawn well out at 11 and will carry 56kgs for the top rider.  He is coming off the back of a good last start third and Nunes knows the horse well.  He is really knocking on the door and improving all the time as the progeny of No Excuse Needed tend to do - a top four chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 2 LADY IFFRAAJ - App CK Ng (a3); the first of three runners in the Kanji Stakes D SW 1000m on the polytrack, this capable mare has drawn handily (3) and drops to a competitive 55kgs with the apprentice claim.  She has been freshened and has the claim advantage - she always goes a great race fresh on the poly - a top five chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 9 UNSURPASSED - Manuel Nunes; the second of the stable trio, this 3YO has drawn midfield (8) and carries 58kgs for the champion jockey.  He is coming off a disappointing run last time but had some excuse - being caught very wide from a nightmare draw.  He has an unfavourable draw again tonight but if he is snagged back and ridden for cover, getting him to relax - he is a top five chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 13 OUR TOUCHE - Olivier Placais; the final of the three runners for Mark Walker, he has drawn best at two and also carries 58kgs. He does need a scratching to make the field - his form has been down a bit of later after a wind operation so he will need to be taken on trust.
