Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has six horses entered on Sunday 21 July at Kranji.

Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022 and trained over 100 winners since, including runner-up in the premiership.

Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

4:30 p.m. R1 8 Aftermath (6 g Spirit of Boom – Elusive Gift) – Ryan Curatolo; he drew barrier 8 of 11 in the S$30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the turf and carries 57kg. He has dropped back to Class 5 recently and efforts have been reasonable against this grade.

5.30 p.m. R3 5 Knippenberg (4 g I Am Invincible – Red Fez) – Ryan Curatolo; he drew barrier 6 of 7 in the S$70,000 Class 3 1400 metres on the turf and carries 55kg. He resumed with a good performance in this grade and is presented with the opportunity to improve further.

6:00 p.m. R4 9 Charminton (5 g Charm Spirit – Sarzana) – Carlos Henrique; he drew barrier 3 of 10 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries only 53kg. He flew home for fourth last start, has won in higher rating grade, and is ideally drawn (3) to rate a top four chance.

8:05 p.m. R8 9 Santino (3 g Santos – Mercy’s Choice) – Carlos Henrique; he drew barrier 6 of 10 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf and carries 50kg. He is nearing drop back to Class 5 where he will be better suited and more competitive.

9:10 p.m. R10 2 Te Akau Ben (6 g Tavistock – Danalaga) – Hugh Bowman; he drew barrier 11 of 13 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 59kg. He capped his good form with a very tough last start win, remains in same grade while going up 2kg in weight, has a world class rider aboard, and looks a top three chance with luck from his wide draw (11) - one of two in the tangerine in this event.

9:10 p.m. R10 3 Axel (8 g Darci Brahma – Josephines Fortune) – Bruno Queiroz; he drew barrier 2 of 13 in the S$50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 58kg. Great to see him recently record his 11th win, and then following that up with a good fourth last start. The senior gentleman of the stable who will head to a wonderful retirement home when racing concludes in Singapore, he is still loving his racing life and brings first four claims to the race from barrier two (main picture).
