Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies third on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 62 wins since 1 January - including a winning double on Friday night.

6.10 p.m. R2 4 BIG REGARDS - Shafiq Rizuan; taking his place in this S$75,000 Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200m in a field of 10, he has drawn gate three and carries 57kgs.  Racing on the turf short course E, he has disappointed in his two Singapore starts to date and needs to improve.

6.40 p.m. R3 Q NINE MAGIC - App R Zawari (a2); a field of 12 for the Class 5 1400m on the turf short course E, he will jump from gate seven and carries 55kgs with the two kilo apprentice claim.  He is in good form this prep. and it is better if it rains on the day for him - a top four chance.

7.10 p.m. R4 5 AWATERE - Shafiq Rizuan; the winner of two of his last three starts, he draws well (2) and carries just 52.5kgs making him very competitive in this small field of seven starters for the S$75,000 Graduation SW 1200m on the turf short course E.  This son of Charge Forward is coming off a good last start win and so is up in grade - however in a very compact field he rates a top four chance.

7.45 p.m. R5 8 SECRET SPICE - Oscar Chavez; she has drawn seven of 11 in the Class 5 1600m on the turf short course E and carries 54.5kgs.  She has been frustrating this preparation and being a back marker, the short course E does not really suit her.

8.20 p.m. R6 7 KEEN DRAGON - Shafiq Rizuan; this S$60,000 Class 4 1200m will be raced on the polytrack where he has also drawn seven of 11 and carries 55.5kgs.  He raced an improved fourth last start and if he keeps on with it - a top four chance.

8.50 p.m. R7 3 ASPREY - Shafiq Rizuan; he has drawn four of 11 and carries 56.5kgs in the Class 4 1200m on the polytrack.  He has freshened up nicely - a little bit of an unknown on the polytrack, a top five chance.

10.30 p.m. R10 3 MISS WAIMATAITAI - Manuel Nunes; as previously detailed, she can be a bit cantankerous but capable if she decides to be.  Tonight she will jump (hopefully well) from gate nine in a 12 strong Class 5 field over 1400m on the turf short course E.  She has come solid with two third placings from her last two appearances however she is a very frustrating mare as she does a lot wrong but can win races.  If she is on her best behaviour - a top four chance.
