Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
18 January, 2015
Te Akau Singapore lines up eight runners at Kranji on Sunday 18 January -
5:50pm R1 4 Free Happy (Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) - Manuel Nunes; a 4YO making his Singapore debut from a good barrier with Singapore's leading rider aboard in a field with little form.
6:20pm R2 3 Storm Trooper (Tavistock - Shock) - Michael Rodd; first time to the races, he encounters a field with decent form and several unknowns. He has drawn well for Michael Rodd and is one to watch going forward.
6:50pm R3 12 Alpha Centauri (Keeper - Country Rose) - Manuel Nunes; third up this preparation off a strong finish last start, steps up in distance and will have a bit of work to do from the outside barrier. He's a genuine performer with experience in this class.
8:25pm R6 1 Forever Ahead (Saperavi - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Apprentice CK Ng (claims 4kgs); second up this preparation and
stretching out to 1400m, a distance over which he has won. Mixed form but he has a good barrier and 53kg. One of two in the race for Mark Walker.
8:25pm R6 13 Von Snitzel (Snitzel - Lumir) - App R Zawari (claims 3kgs); has won at the distance and gets a result when placed
close to the speed. Third up with a light weight but the wide barrier is a concern.
8:55pm R7 15 Riedel (Saperavi - La Conga) - Manuel Nunes; a winner of three, including two at 1600m, he has had races spaced and steps up in distance. Will be fitter for racing over sprint distances in last four starts and has ability but must overcome wide draw in a competitive field.
9:25pm R8 8 Affirmation (Fastnet Rock - Affirmed Lane) - Manuel Nunes; the elder statesman of the stable and a winner
of eight, has drawn midfield and will be fit fourth up. When he drops in grade, he is always capable of being a surprise package.
11:35 R12 6 Single Act (Bachelor Duke - Consumer) - App CK Ng (claims 4kgs); improved run last start when running on strongly late in the event, carries a feather weight from a middle barrier in an attempt to get the elusive maiden win in Singapore.
