Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained nine winners this season and leads the Trainers' Premiership.

Sunday 29 January - note due to Chinese New Year, race meetings are Sunday and Monday day meetings -

5.50 p.m. R1 8 STAR STRIKE - Manuel Nunes; in this Kranji Stakes D SW 1400m on the turf long course B, he has drawn well (3) and carries 56.5kgs in the field of 13 runners. He gets to an easier race, with good form and rates a top five chance.

6.25 p.m. R2 4 BIG REGARDS - Manuel Nunes; two for Mark Walker in this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200m on the turf long course B. This son of Darci Brahma has drawn the ace and will carry 57kgs. He needs to improve.

6.25 p.m. R2 5 ALAMAK BOY - Vlad Duric; the second for the stable in this 13 horse affair has also drawn to advantage (3) and the son of Alamosa will carry 57kgs. After a disappointing trial, he gets to the turf - a rough place chance.

6.55 p.m. R3 1 CHAMPAGNE REIN - App R Zawari (a2); a trio for the stable aptly in Race 3, a Class 4 1000m on the polytrack where the first stable starter has drawn out (9) and with the apprentice claim, will carry 55kgs. On the back of a solid 3rd last start when fresh-up, he has an advantage with the claim - a top four chance.

6.55 p.m. R3 6 LIM'S SHOT - Danny Beasley; the second of the trio for the stable in this S$60,000 event lands a great draw (2) and will carry 54.5kgs. He brings very good form to the table, this son of Showcasing, with a 2-1-4 form line and with a nice draw working in his favour - a strong each-way chance.

6.55 p.m. R3 7 PURE JUSTICE - Gerald Mosse; the final of Mark Walker's three in this 12 strong assembly unfortunately cops the widest draw and will also carry 54.kgs. He deserves a change of luck and doesn't get it here - drawing the outside over 1000m he will need plenty of luck.

7.25 p.m. R4 9 JUSTICE LIGHT - Gerald Mosse; the international rider also climbs aboard this “Justice” runner in the Initiation 4YO+Below WFA 1100m on the polytrack where he has drawn beautifully (2) and will carry 54kgs on the back of his debut run for 5th. He disappointed first up, gets blinker/pacifiers on, has drawn well and will improve - one of two in the race for the trainer.

7.25 p.m. R4 12 SHE'S THE ONE - I Azhar; the second for Mark Walker in this field of 12 starters has drawn nicely (3) and will carry just 52.5kgs. On debut, a nice grey filly, she will take plenty of improvement from her first up run. She may be better on the turf but it's a nice race to begin her career in.

9.30 p.m. R8 3 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - Gerald Mosse; draws handily (3) and carries 58kgs in this Kranji Stakes D SW 1400m on the turf long course B. He is performing well and in this capacity field of 14, he looks to be a nice each way chance in an even field.

10.35 p.m. R10 1 AHMAR - Oscar Chavez; two from the stable in this Kranji Stakes D SW 1400m on the turf long course B, the first will jump from gate 11 and carries 58kgs. He looks well but has just drawn a bit awkwardly - a top five chance.

10.35 p.m. R10 5 ASPREY - Manuel Nunes; the other runner for Mark Walker draws better (7) and likewise is weighted with 58kgs. He has been disappointing lately burt back into an easier race he rates a top five chance.

11.05 p.m. R11 7 IKING - App CK Ng (a3); again two runners to close off the programme - in the Open Benchmark 67 1400m on the turf long course B, the first has the widest gate (14 of 14) to contend with and but with the apprentice up, drops to 52.5kgs. He rounded off to finish well for fourth last start and is a very honest horse - but he cops an awful draw and needs to drop down to Class 5.

11.05 p.m. R11 12 GANNET - Gerald Mosse; the second for the stable in this
S$80,000 event has drawn better (7) and carries 54.5kgs for his second Kranji start. He has improved since his first up run but may need an easier grade.
