Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner Te Akau's Mark Walker, who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership, has trained ten winners and lies second on the Trainers' Premiership this season which began on 1 January.

Sunday 5 February -

6.50 p.m. R3 6 KEEN DRAGON - Derreck David; a handy draw (5) in the 12-strong field for the Class 4 1100m on the polytrack.  Carrying just 53 kgs, he is in good form and on the back of a last start second, rates a top five chance.

7.50 p.m. R5 6 VIVIANO - Shafiq Rizuan; Mark Walker's next starter also jumps from barrier five and faces seven opponents in the Open Benchmark 97 on the polytrack over 1000m.  With 54 kgs, the winner of two of his last four for Raffles Racing, he was a last start winner but the favourite Nova Swiss does look very hard to beat.

8.55 p.m. R7 7 CLUTHA LAD - Gerald Mosse; the only stable runner in the Class 5 1700m (with Q Nine Maxim not making the field) is this senior campaigner who jumps from barrier seven with scratchings and carries 57.5kgs.  Looking to build on his last start third, he has been in solid form and a top four chance in this field of 12.

9.25 p.m. R8 3 VRAAD - Shafiq Rizuan; he has drawn well (2 of 10) and carries 58.5kgs in this Class 5 1200m on the turf long course D.  He is now down in class, drawn well - a top five chance.

10.35 p.m. R10 11 MISS WAIMATAITAI - Derreck David; a good draw for this mare (2 of 11) in the Class 4 1200m on the polytrack where she is weighted with only 50kgs.  She has finally started getting her mind on the business, winning her last couple but up in grade here, a tough grade.  Place chance.

11:05 p.m. R11 3 FINE CHOICE - Shafiq Rizuan; this son of Coats Choice unfortunately draws 10 of 11 and carries 57kgs in the S$60,000 Class 4 1100m on the polytrack.  He ran a good second last start will go back and ride for luck from the wide barrier - top five chance given his good form.
