Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker lines up nine runners on Sunday at Kranij.

5:50pm R1 4 Falcon - Manuel Nunes; lightly raced four year old having his fourth start following three strong efforts for three placings, always running on strongly to the line. The step up to 1400m will suit and has drawn well for leading rider Manuel Nunes against runners with little recent form.

6:50pm R3 6 Iking - Craig Newitt; up in class after a smart win last start on January 11 over 1600m in Kranji Stakes D. A very consistent performer in that class, he may be one to watch back in that grade. Has drawn midfield and will run on to be a place chance with some luck in the running.

7:20pm R4 1 Mala Mala - Michael Rodd; has been running very consistent races since joining the Te Akau stable. Drawn to get a nice run in transit under a decent weight, he is a strong chance for an overdue win in a field light on form.

7:50pm R5 9 Star Beauty  - David Flores; has failed to run on in two starts to date and has a tricky barrier to overcome in a smart field. The step up to 1200m and a debut on the turf may factor for an improved effort. One of two in the race for Mark Walker.

7:50pm R5 6 Jimmy Rea - Manuel Nunes; last start winner in his second race day appearance in a strong effort over 1200m from the outside gate on the polytrack. Gets a better draw here with a light 54.5kg on the turf, a repeat of his last performance would put him in contention against winners.

9:25pm R8 10 Single Act - Michael Rodd; down in class and up in distance, he carries 57.5 kg although mixes form and will require a smart effort from barrier 10 to score elusive win. One of two in the race for Mark Walker.

9:25pm R8 4 Ready Fortune - Manuel Nunes; a winner at the course and distance in July, is fourth up and closed strongly last start over the sprint trip. He has the advantage of a good barrier and light weight under leading rider that was in the saddle for his win.

11:05pm R11 4 Om - Craig Newitt; will be fitter for three runs this preparation, has drawn well and is thrice a winner on the course over 1400m. He will need luck in the running in a competitive field. One of two in the race for the trainer.

11:05pm R11 7 Aspen - Manuel Nunes; a lightly raced horse with ability, has won twice over 1400m - once in New Zealand and two starts back in November in Singapore, he can factor in this with a strong tempo up front.
