Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 27 winners this season and currently leads the Trainers' Premiership.

4.50 p.m. R1 3 SUCCESS COMES TRUE - I Azhar; two runners in the first to kick off a busy afternoon for Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker. The first in this Class 5 1200m on the surf short course C has drawn out at 10 and carries 57kgs. He been disappointing and needs to improve.

4.50 p.m. R1 8 VRAAD - Shafiq Rizuan; the second stable starter draws even worse (12 of 14) and carries 56kgs. He pulled up a touch sore last start but has trialled well since - place chance.

5.20 p.m. R2 13 OBSTACLES FREE - Shafiq Rizuan; this 3YO needs a scratching to make the field for this Open Maiden WFA 1100m on the polytrack where he draws six and carries 55.5kgs.

5.50 p.m. R3 2 HELLO MICHELLE - Shafiq Rizuan; this very capable daughter of Minstrel Court brings a solid form line to this Class 4 1200m on the polytrack where Mark Walker lines up two starters. Her last five starts have delivered a 1-3-2-4-4 record and jumps from barrier 12, carrying 56.5kgs. She was unlucky last start when getting checked at the top of the straight - the wide draw won't bother her - top four chance.

5.50 p.m. R3 8 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - App CK Ng (a3) - the second stable runner draws the opposite to his stablemate (1 of 12) and carries just 51kgs with the apprentice claim. He showed improvement when third last start and the handy draw actually mightn't be ideal in this case as he tends to get back - place chance.

6.50 p.m. R5 2 TOLIMAN - Manuel Nunes; the ace draw against nine competitors for this horse who has placed at each of his three starts (5-4-2) and debuts tonight for trainer Mark Walker. With the coveted draw on the turf short course C, he carries 58.5kgs in this Open Benchmark 74 over 1400m which looks a touch short for him.

7.25 p.m. R6 10 KASHAN - Manuel Nunes; a handy draw (3 of 14) in this Class 5 1200m on the turf short course C where he carries 54.5kgs. He needs further than 1200m but could place whilst fresh.

7.55 p.m. R7 3 KEEN DRAGON - App R Zawari (a2); a winner two starts ago, he draws out at 10 in a 12 strong field for this Class 4 1200m on the polytrack and carries 54kgs with the apprentice aboard. This 6YO is enjoying good form and with the claim - an each way chance at odds.

8.25 p.m. R8 4 IVANHOE - App R Zawari (a2); another race with a three pronged attack for trainer Mark Walker - racing in the famous colours of Dato Tan Chin Nam this 4YO brings outstanding form to (1-1-2-1) this Open Benchmark 67 over 1000m on the polytrack. First start for the stable, he will improve once he gets up over more distance - tonight he draws well (4) and carries 54.5kgs with the apprentice allowance.

8.25 p.m. R8 9 MIGHTY CONQUEROR - I Azhar; the stable's second representative was a winner three starts back, draws gate six and carries 55.5kgs. He has been a bit disappointing lately and needs to improve.

8.25 p.m. R8 10 EATON'S GOLD - Shafiq Rizuan; the last of the Mark Walker trio draws eight of 12 and carries 55.5kgs. This grand campaigner who has finished fourth and third at his most recent attempts, and is racing in career best form although an 8YO - each way chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 5 THE COSMOS - Shafiq Rizuan; Mark Walker lines up two for the last event for his team tonight, the S$60,000 Class 4 1100m on the polytrack. This last start winer draws nicely (2) and carries 56kgs for New Zealand owner Ian Farrelly. A 5YO son of multiple Champion Singapore Sire Darci Brahma, he won a weaker race last time but has trained on nicely since - each way chance.

9.30 p.m. R10 12 UNSURPASSED - App CK Ng (a3); the second runner for the team jumps from barrier four and with the apprentice rider, will carry a featherweight of 47kgs. He needs to drop back to Class 5 to be competitive.
