Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 28 winners and currently leads the Trainers' Premiership.

Sunday 16 April

4.50 p.m. R1 1 AHMAR - App S Shafinzal (a2); the day starts with this Kranji Stakes D SW 1400m on the turf long course B where Mark Walker lines up three runners. The first has drawn gate eight and with the claim, drops to 56kgs. He brings very good form to bear here (5-5-2-3-2) and been a touch unlucky - top four chance.

4.50 p.m. R1 3 STORM TROOPER - App Z Syed (a4); another apprentice claim here with this son of Tavistock now carrying 54kgs courtesy of the maximum allowance and he breaks from barrier four. The second of the stable runners, he is a horse that would appreciate any rain but an honest older campaigner. Comes off a freshen up after being disappointing - place chance.

4.50 p.m. R1 5 ANCIENT WARRIOR - App R Zawari (a2); the last of the trio also takes advantage of an apprentice aboard and carries 56kgs, jumping from barrier five. Against this field of 14, the winner three starts ago finds a suitable race tonight - top four chance.

5.20 p.m. R2 1 JUSTICE LIGHT - Glenn Boss; he brings very good form into this Open Benchmark 67 1400m on the turf long course A where he has to carry 58.5kgs Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200m on the turf long course B where he has drawn barrier eight and carries 57kgs. With the services of top international rider Glen Boss, he faces 11 opponents - a very good runner-up last start - top four chance.

5.50 p.m. R3 3 DAMON - App R Zawari (a2); a very capable galloper who seems to run into a bit of bad luck, he draws well (4 of 13) in the Class 4 1600m on the turf long course B. Carrying 54.5kgs thanks to the claim, he is in good form and tends to hold that form - top four chance.

6.20 p.m. R4 5 VIVIANO - Shafiq Rizuan; racing for the raffles racing team, his form line tells the story of his ability (6-1-4-4-2) and on the back of his super run for second last outing he should be very competitive in this Open bench ark 97 1400m on the turf long course B. He draws eight and carries 54 kgs - it's a very strong field but he is racing in good heart - a top four chance.

9.35 p.m. R10 12 IVANHOE - I Azhar; having only his second start for the stable tonight he draws awkwardly (10) in the Class 3 1200m on the turf short course B where he will carry only 52kgs. He came with Malaysian form - may need to drop a grade.
