Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 57 winners (a double on Friday from only 4 runners) and continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - with a 19-win lead.

Sunday 16 July

6.50 p.m. R5 2 QINGDAO - Alan Munro; the day begins for Mark Walker and the team with two representatives in this Open Maiden WFA 1600m on the turf short course D. Jumping from gate six, he faces 11 combatants and with two improved runs from his most recent outings when finishing third and second, this 4YO son of Volksraad comes off the back of a nice second and rates a top four chance.

6.50 p.m. R5 8 PRINCE DARCI - App CK Ng (a3); the second for the trainer has drawn barrier five and with the apprentice relief, carries 54kgs. Whilst this 3YO son of Darci Brahma can be inconsistent at times, his last start runner up placing had plenty of merit about it. However due to that placing last start in Class 5 company, he is out of Class 5 and, facing a tougher line-up, he rates a place chance.

7.20 p.m. R6 5 CLERMONT CLUB - Ismail Azahar; this good campaigner is now a rising 8YO and has been a solid earner for his connections in Singapore with over S$250,000 in stakes' earnings. Tonight he draws four of 11 for the Class 5 1400m on the turf short course D and carries only 53kgs. With seven wins, six 2nd, 10 third and 7 fourth placings under his belt, he resumes here and will be better once he gets to the polytrack and over more distance.

7.55 p.m. R7 4 KASHAN - Oscar Chavez; a handy draw (4) in this Class 5 1700m on the polytrack where he faces 10 opponents and carries 54kgs. He comes off a nice second last time out and is in good form - a top four chance.

9.40 p.m. R10 10 AUSPICIOUS ACE - Derreck David; an outside draw (9 of 10) in this Class 4 1100m on the polytrack. With only 51.5kgs, the 3YO by Alamosa has had a nice freshen up and in fact, she is better when drawn out a bit (which she is) so a top four chance.
