Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 61 winners - including a winning table on Friday evening. He continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - with a 22-win lead.

Sunday 30 July

5.20 p.m. R1 2 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - App R Zawari (a2); Mark Walker lines up two starters in the first race on the programme - the Kranji Stakes D SW over 1200m on the turf long course C. The first draws awkwardly (12 of 13) and carries 56kgs courtesy of the 2kgs apprentice claim. He was a good winner last start - a top four chance to go back to back.

5.20 p.m. R1 3 STAR STRIKE - Shafiq Rizuan; also weighted with 58kgs is Mark Walker's second representative. Drawn much better (4) than his stablemate, he brings a smart form line into play (2-1-2-4) and in fact was very unlucky last start when finishing fourth - top four chance.

6.50 p.m. R4 14 VENUS DE MILO - Derreck David; this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200m is likewise run on the turf long course C. This 3YO filly will jump from barrier six and carries the featherweight of 48.5kgs in this field of 14 runners. She does need to improve.

8.25 p.m. R7 3 NORTHERN KNIGHT - Vlad Duric; on the polytrack for this Class 4 1700m where Mark Walker has two nominated. The first will be ridden by Vlad Duric who is establishing a very successful partnership with the stable, riding two of Mark Walker's three winners from Friday's meeting. This 5YO draws seven of 12 with 56.5kgs on his back. He too needs to improve or may undertake his future racing in Malaysia.

8.25 p.m. R7 13 GANNET - TBA; draws the extreme outside, carries 52kgs and sits one on the ballot - unlikely to make the field.

9.00 p.m. R8 4 FEROCIOUS - Shafiq Rizuan; Group 3 honours up for grabs in the Juvenile Championship 2YO S W 1400m which will be staged on the turf long course C and carries a rich purse of S$200,000. This 2YO by Sebring was purchased by David Ellis from the Karaka Ready to Run Sale and captured plenty of attention when winning stylishly on debut at Kranji. For the feature, he draws very well (4) and will carry 56kgs. Facing nine competitors, he looks to be better suited by the long course rather than the on-speed bias that he faced last time - top four chance.

11.05 p.m. R10 6 ELITE GENERAL - Shafiq Rizuan; for Mark Walker's last starter on Sunday, it's back on to the polytrack for this Open Benchmark 67 1000m featuring 12 starters. Breaking from gate six with 55.5kgs, he has his first start for the stable today. He may need further and to drop down a grade to be competitive.
