Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 71 winners - he continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - now with a 25-win lead.

Sunday 10 September

4.55 p.m. R2 11 SHAMROCK - Derreck David; a handy draw (3 of 12) for Mark Walker's first runner of the day in this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200 on the turf long course B. A 3YO by Helmut, weighted with just 52.5kgs, he ran an eye-catching second on debut and is enjoying good form - a top four chance.

5.25 p.m. R3 6 ALRINA - Oscar Chavez; a 4YO Alamos mare, she unfortunately cops the outside draw in the 12-strong field for the Maiden 1600m on the polytrack. With 53 kgs on her back she has finished fifth and fourth at her last three appearances but has been touch disappointing and needs to step up.

5.55 p.m. R4 1 THE COSMOS - App R Zawari (a2); a tooth extraction with imported specialist gear saw this 6YO by Darci Brahma back in the winner's circle two starts ago followed by a creditable third when last presented - so the technical dentistry worked the oracle. Tonight he drops to 55.5kgs with the benefit of the apprentice allowance in this NZ Racing Board Trophy Class 4 over 1100m. The apprentice will have an awkward draw to negotiate (9 of 12) but this is another in good fettle currently - a top four chance.

7.35 p.m. R7 3 VIVIANO - Shafiq Rizuan; three runners for Mark Walker in one of the features of the meeting, the S$100,000 Open Benchmark 97 1100m on the polytrack. The first, for the Raffles' Racing team, snares the coveted ace draw and with 55.5kgs will be looking to emulate his winning performance of three starts ago. A 6YO by Keeper, he races well up to his best now - in this strong field - a place chance.

7.35 p.m. R7 4 DISTINCTIVE DARCI - Vlad Duric; Singapore's leading rider continues his successful partnership with this very talented son of multi-Singapore Champion Sire Darci Brahma - the second of Mark Walker's trio put back to back wins together two and three starts ago, including establishing a new Class record. He draws to be dangerous (4) with 54.5kgs assigned and is holding great form - a top four chance.

7.35 p.m. R7 14 MIGHTY CONQUEROR - TBA; he has drawn the outside gate, with 50kgs but looks highly unlikely to get a start from his position of two on the ballot.

8.15 p.m. R8 4 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - Shafiq Rizuan; a favourable draw (3) for this 5YO in the Kranji Stakes D SW over the mile on the turf long course B. A winner three starts back, with 58kgs to carry, he finds the right field here to be competitive - top four chance.

9.25 p.m. R10 2 SACRED GALAXY - App R Zawari (a2); Singapore's leading apprentice takes 2kgs off the back of another for the Raffles' Racing team in the Kranji Stakes D SW also over 1600m on the turf long course B. Jumping from gate four he squares off against 13 other starters, carries 56kgs and drops to Kranji D grade but he still needs to improve on his last start.

10.00 p.m. R11 1 AWATERE - Shafiq Rizuan; three runners in the stable to close off the night in this Open Benchmark 67 1600m on the turf long course B. The first, who went back to back when winning four and five starts ago, lands the inside draw (1) and will carry 57kgs. This 4YO by Charge Forward is in super form and was very unlucky last start a top four chance.

10.00 p.m. R11 8 LIM'S REFORM - App R Zawari (a2); the second of the trio, he raced previously as Damon and is an ultra consistent son of O'Reilly - he draws 11 of the 14 and carries 55kgs. He is as honest as the day is long and always thereabouts - a top four chance again.

10.00 p.m. R11 16 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - TBA; in good form but another to sit second on the ballot and unlikely to make the field where he had drawn eight and was assigned 54kgs.
