Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 72 winners - he continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - now with a 25-win lead.

Sunday 17 September
5.20 p.m. R2 1 ELITE KINGDOM - Shafiq Rizuan; a handy draw (5 of 13) for Mark Walker's first runner of the day in this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200 on the turf long course C. A 3YO by Animal Kingdom, weighted with 57kgs, he ran an improved run for fifth last time - he is improving all the time - a top five chance.
5.50 p.m. R3 11 LIM'S SIGNATURE - Derreck David; a 4YO Swiss Ace gelding, he draws wider at nine (of 12) but has just 50kgs on his back for the Class 4 1100m on the polytrack He was a tidy winner two back but does need to get back to Class 5 level to be competitive.
7.00 p.m. R5 5 STAR GENIUS - App CK Ng (a3); Mark Walker lines up three in this event - the first is drawn to be dangerous (5) for this Class 3 1200m on the turf long course C and he has just 52.5kgs to carry thanks to the apprentice rider. With a very solid form line of 3-3-3-1-6 this 5YO mare also might need to get down a level to see her back to winning form.
7.00 p.m. R5 7 CHAMPAGNE RAIN - App R Zawari (a2); the second of the trio in this 14-strong assembly draws best (2) and with the apprentice claim has only 52.5kgs on board. A 6YO son of Captain Rio he was a winner three back but needs to get back to Class 4 level.
7.00 p.m. R5 11 ANCIENT WARRIOR - Shafiq Rizuan; the final runner of the three for the stable in this event draws wider (9) and has 54kgs assigned. A winner of two of his last five appearances, he wears blinkers for the first time but may need further.
8.05 p.m. R7 2 ASPEN - App R Zawari (a2); a horse that appreciates a cut in the track, he draws the ace for the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack and has a relief of 2kgs with 56kgs to carry. Up against 11 competitors, this 7YO son of Alamosa finds a weak race but still needs to step up.
9.45 p.m. R10 9 AHMAR - Oscar Chavez; three in this final for the stable, the Class 3 1200m on the turf long course C. Drawn 10 of 14, he is weighted with 53.5kgs and is the winner of two of his last four appearances. He does however need to drop back to Class 4 level.
9.45 p.m. R10 10 BAO SHAN MAGIC - Shafiq Rizuan; the second for the stable has really shown huge promise in his two Singapore starts, finishing second on debut and then coming out at his second start with a smart win. In this S$80,000 event he draws beautifully (3) and has just 53.5kgs assigned. This 5YO is enjoying good form - top four chance.
9.45 p.m. R10 11 MAJOR TOM - Derreck David; the last of the stable trio has also shown good form, win ing two of his last five starts - he draws out (9) and has 53kgs on his back. This 4YO son of Darci Brahma raced by Fortuna wears blinkers for the first time but the distance could be a bit short - also would prefer some rain.
