Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 77 winners (including a winning treble last Sunday) - he continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - now with a 24-win lead.


Sunday 15 October

5.50 p.m. R1 2 LIM'S SIGNATURE - Vlad Duric; the first for the day for trainer Mark Walker lines up in this Class 5 1400m on the long course A where this 4YO draws well, jumping from barrier three of 11
and carries 57kgs. With the leading Singapore jockey aboard, this Swiss Ace gelding who was a winner four starts ago and returns tonight to Class 5 - positions as a top four chance.

7.25 p.m. R4 7 QINGDAO - Vlad Duric; this trainer/jockey combination has proven highly fruitful this season and continues in this Maiden 1100m on the polytrack. This 5YO Volksraad gelding will jump from gate seven (of 10) and carries 55.5kgs. He finished third and second before disappointing last time - he has does need to step up here.

8.00 p.m. R5 5 KASHAN - Oscar Chavez; another who showed solid form before not racing up to expectations last start is this 6YO who contests the Class 5 1400m on the turf long course A. With an ideal draw (3) in this 11-strong field, he is assigned 55kgs and he too needs to improve with the impending likelihood of future racing in Malaysia otherwise.

8.35 p.m. R6 1 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - App R Zawari (a2); one of Mark Walker's apprentices Zawari, who is having an outstanding season, climbs aboard for this Class 4 1600m on the turf long course A where this last start winner draws four and with the claim, carries 56.5kgs. A winner in fact of two of his last five appearances, this 5YO did a good job when victorious last time however has gone up in grade, so a tougher assignment - a place chance in this field of 11.

9.05 p.m. R7 3 JACK'S SECRET - App N Hanafi (a4); maximum claim for the first of two for the stable in the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack where the first for the trainer draws the ace and, with the claim, drops to just 53kgs. Following a very good second placing last start, he has trained on well and is in good form, is well drawn and with the 4kg claim - a top four chance.

9.05 p.m. R7 6 BEST JADE - App R Zawari (a2); the second for Mark Walker also will enjoy an apprentice allowance (2kgs) meaning he carries 54kgs in the field of just 10 runners. Drawing barrier six, this 5YO by Showcasing won two starts back and followed this with an eye-catching second placing last start and is another in sound form - a top four chance.

9.40 p.m. R8 4 TURQUOISE KING - Shafiq Rizuan; the penultimate runner this evening takes his place in the Class 3 1400m on the turf long course A, where he will bounce out of the five gate, facing nine opponents, with 56kgs on his back. A now 7YO son of Stratum, he needs further distance to again be competitive.

10.15 p.m. R9 3 THE COSMOS - Vlad Duric; the final stable representative for the night is this very capable son of Darci Brahma who has now earned S$215,000 for his Kiwi owner in only 26 starts. That comprises three wins, a huge number of runner up placings (9) and a couple of other minor placings. Tonight he contests the $60,000 Class 4 1100m on the polytrack, jumps from gate seven (of 12) and will carry 58.5kgs. This 6YO, even though carrying the top weight, rates a top four prospect.
