Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 77 winners (including a winning treble last Sunday) - he continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - now with a 24-win lead.

Sunday 22 October
5.50 p.m. R1 6 ASPREY - App N Hanafi (a4); the first for the day for trainer Mark Walker lines up in this Kranji Stakes D SW 1200m on the turf long course B where he draws nicely (2) in this field of 13 and with the apprentice claim will drop to 54kgs weight allocation. Placed two and three starts ago, this 6YO by Alamosa needs to improve and will look to his future racing in Malaysia.
6.20 p.m. R2 3 OBSTACLES FREE - Ismail Azhar; the opposite draw-wise for this first of two stable runners in the Open Maiden WFA 1200m on the turf on course B. Carpark for him (12 of 12), with 57.5kgs, and this Coats Choice 4YO needs to show improvement on recent efforts.
6.20 p.m. R2 7 POWER WARRIOR - Craig Grylls; the second runner for Mark Walker in the S$35,000 affair draws much better (2) and has only 52kgs on his back. Improving at each of his three Singapore starts to date, his fourth last time presented did have merit and fresh up, he rates a top four prospect.
6.50 p.m. R3 4 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - Vlad Duric; Singapore's leading rider again teams up with the country's leading trainer, this time in the Open Benchmark 74 over 1800m on the turf long course B. This Showcasing 5YO has drawn six in the field of 11 and has 57kgs assigned. A winner two starts ago, he has also finished third from four other recent appearances and is enjoying good form - a top four chance.
7.25 p.m. R4 9 BURGUNDY PRINCE - Craig Grylls; another by New Zealand's current leading sire Burgundy, this 3YO gelding is having just his second Singapore start - taking his place in this Maiden WFA 1200m on the turf long course B where he has drawn seven of 12 but has the light weight of 52kgs on his back. He is a horse that will show his best when he steps up over more ground.
7.55 p.m. R5 2 STORM TROOPER - App N Hanafi (a4); a weight drop to 53kgs for the staunch Tavistock gelding who acts best when striking some rain. In this 13-strong Class 4 field over 1600m on the turf long course B, the now 6YO draws handily at three. He is in good form and rates a top four chance.
9.30 p.m. R8 1 ECLAIR CHOICE - App R Zawari (a2); takes his place in this field of 13 for the Open Benchmark 89 over 1200m on the turf long course B where he draws gate five and has a two kilo weight relief with the apprentice up, now carrying 57kgs. He has been somewhat disappointing and needs to lift.
10.40 p.m. R10 2 SACRED GALAXY - App R Zawari (a2); the final two stable representatives for the night carry the same ownership colours - of Raffles Racing - the first in the Class 4 1400m on the turf long course B draws well (3) and with the apprentice claim carries 56.5kgs. A son of Flying Spur, the 5YO is a last start winner but does face a tougher grade here - place chance.
10.40 p.m. R10 6 SACRED SURFER - Shafiq Rizuan; the second for the team and final runner for the night has also been a solid performer since arriving in Singapore with a form line of 3-8-4-2 and draws just one outside his stablemate (4) in the 14-strong event. A 5YO by Choisir, he was a good second last time presented but in a weaker grade than he faces here - also a place chance like his stablemate.
