Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview
21 January, 2018
It is the first month of the new 2018 Singapore season - with Mark Walker being confirmed as the 2017 Champion Trainer - his second Premiership since re-locating to Singapore - and Mark has to date trained three winners.

Sunday 21 January - note there is also a Tuesday meeting next week
6.10 p.m. R2 3 AMANZOE - Vlad Duric; top jockey and top trainer from last season combine with this 3YO Stratum gelding in the Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1100m on the polytrack. Raced by Brent and Cherry Taylor's Trelawney Stud, he went a super race for second on his Singapore debut last start. Disappointing that he cops the outside (12 of 12) gate but with 57kgs on his back and the champion rider, he is in good form - the draw the challenge - place chance.
8.15 p.m. R6 9 BIG REGARDS - App CK Ng (a3); this last start winning son of Darci Brahma lines up in the Class 5 1400m on the turf long course D where he draws well (4) and thanks to the apprentice allowance, drops to just 51.5kgs. He was a surprise winner last start, remains in the same grade and if he pulls another effort out of the hat like last time, he positions as a an each way prospect in this field of 12.
8.45 p.m. R7 4 BAO SHAN MAGIC - App R Zawari (a2); this former Kiwi has really hit his straps in Singapore, with two wins, two seconds and a third from only his five starts to date - earning stakes of S$109,485. Unfortunately he too has a tricky draw to contend with (9 of 9) in the S$100,000 Kranji Stakes B SW 1000m on the polytrack where he drops to 54.5kgs with the apprentice claim. This 5YO will get better with more distance - place chance.
10.00 p.m. R9 2 VIVIANO - App R Zawari (a2); the final runner for the evening takes his place in another S$100,000 affair, also a Kranji Stakes B SW 1000m on the polytrack. Drawing out (9 of 10) this 6YO son of Keeper has 57.5kgs on his back thanks to the apprentice assignment. Raced by Raffles Racing, he too will appreciate more distance as his campaign steps up - place chance.
