Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview

Singapore's Champion Trainer of 2015 and 2017, Te Akau's Mark Walker lies third on the Trainers' Premiership this season with 12 wins.

Sunday 11 March

5.40 p.m. R1 1 ALRINA - App Noorman Hanafi (a4); two runners in the first of the day for Mark Walker, this Class 5 1400m on the turf long course E. The first representative draws out a touch (nine of 12) but drops from the top weight allocated to 55kgs with the apprentice engaged. She ran a solid second placing when next presented - her last run before undertaking her future racing in Malaysia - place chance.

5.40 p.m. R1 4 POWER WARRIOR - Ismail Azhar; the second for the stable fares no better draw-wise (10) and has 54kgs assigned in this S$20,000 event. A 3YO by Power, he needs to improve.

7.40 p.m. R5 8 BIG REGARDS - App Mohammad Firdaus (a1); another who posted a good effort when runner up last start is this son of Darci Brahma who takes his place in the Class 5 1800m on the turf long course E. Unfortunately he draws awkwardly (11 of 12) and does have a 1 kg weight relief with the apprentice aboard so carries 58kgs. despite the challenge of the draw, he is in good form and rates an each way chance.

8.15 p.m. R6 1 WIRA SAKTI - Ismail Azhar; a two-pronged attack for the stable in this Maiden 1400m on the turf long course E with the first stable starter drawing the widest gate (10) and carrying 58.5kgs. After a tidy third placing on debut, this 4YO presents as an each way chance in a weaker field despite his difficult gate.

8.15 p.m. R6 3 QINGDAO - Vlad Duric; the second stable runner in this field of 10 draws only one gate better (9) and has 54kgs assigned with the champion rider aboard. He races tonight in his first start back since he bled and he did win a trial nicely on Tuesday - an each way chance.

9.50 p.m. R9 1 AWATERE - App Noorman Hanafi (a4); again a stable duo involved in this Class 3 1200m on the turf long course E with the first runner, a son of Charge Forward set to break from gate 4 but with only 53kgs on his back, thanks to the apprentice claim. Owned by the South Island based Forsyth family, this 4YO tonight has his first start since a knee operation - a place proposition.

9.50 p.m. R9 12 ALAMOSA EXPRESS - App Mohamad Firdaus (a1); the second stable starter draws out at nine in this field of 12. Also owned out of the South island of New Zealand, he drops to a light weight of just 50.5kgs, also with an apprentice assigned. In his three starts to date he has showed promise, collecting a cheque on each occasion. This 4YO son of Alamosa struggles a touch in this grade and may need to return to Class 4 to be competitive.

10.25 p.m. R10 STAR GENIUS - App R Zawari (a1); the final runner for Mark Walker takes her place in this Class 3 1100m on the polytrack where she jumps from barrier six in the field of 11 and has 55kgs allocated. A winner last prep., this is her first start since a knee operation and she does race well fresh - an each way chance.
