Te Akau Singapore Sunday Preview - Grp 1 Derby Day

Te Akau Singapore has eleven horses racing on Sunday 21 July at Kranji - Group 1 Singapore Derby day! Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker continues his lead of the Trainers' Premiership by 13, with 48 wins this year.

6.20 p.m. R1 3 Prince Pegasus (5 g Beneteau - Sassy Peg) - Nizar Noor (a4); drew barrier 12 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 56kgs. Unfortunately he has a wide draw (12) and needs luck, but does rate in the top four prospects as he drops back to Class 5. One of two in the event for trainer Mark Walker.

6.20 p.m. R1 12 Broadway Success  (3 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 58.5kgs. He is racing in good form, and is ideally drawn (4) to figure in the top four.

7.20 p.m. R3 12 Clarton Palace (3 g Minstrel Court - Zabba) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 1 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 53kgs. Ideally drawn (1), he galloped well during the week and rates a top four chance in an event with two stable runners.

7.20 p.m. R3 15 Atlantic Fox  (5 g Savabeel - Kinsella) - unfixed; drew the outside barrier (14) in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 53kgs. The wide draw (14) makes it very tough for him.

7.50 p.m. R4 4 Keng Mak Mak (5 g Red Giant - Celtic Class) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 4 of 14 in the $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on turf and carries 58kgs. He has disappointed lately and he needs to improve.

8.20 p.m. R5 13 Spokesman (4 g Alamosa - Panthera) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 2 of 14 in the $30,000 Class 5 1400 metres on turf and carries 55kgs. He is racing in terrific form and looks a top four prospect from a good draw (2).

8.55 p.m. R6 5 Richebourg (4 g Real Saga - Tallulah Bee) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 3 of 14 in the $70,000 Class 3 1800 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. He is racing in solid form and can feature in the first four from an ideal draw (3).

9.55 p.m. R8 9 Viviano (7 g Keeper - Flying Florence) - Ismail Azhar; drew barrier 8 of 11 in the $85,000 Class 2 1400 metres on turf and carries 52.5kgs. His chances could improve with any rain.

10.25 p.m. R9 6 Sacred Croix (4 g Savabeel - Croix Du Sud) - Benny Woodworth; drew barrier 7 of 16 in the $1,000,000 Singapore Derby (Gr. 1, 1800m) on turf and carries 57kgs. In great form, winning four and finishing second twice in his last six starts. He rates a top four chance in the feature event on the programme - in which Mark Walker lines up two starters.

10.25 p.m. R9 14 Beau Geste (4 g Street Cry - Haut Ton) - J P Van Der Merwe; drew barrier 6 of 16 in the $1,000,000 Singapore Derby (Gr. 1, 1800m) on turf and carries 57kgs. In good form, he could have benefitted with another lead-up run in an ideal world but nonetheless he deserves to be considered in the top five contenders.

11.00 p.m. R10 5 Axel  (3 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Benny Woodworth; drew the outside barrier (14) in the $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 57.5kgs. Continuing the run of wide barrier draws, it is disappointing he drew the outside gate, but is in great form and a top four chance with luck in navigating the obstacle of his alley.
