Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview
30 January, 2015
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore.
Friday 30 January
11.30 p.m. R1 8 Zac Gallant (5 g Darci Brahma - Clermont Rose) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier eight of fourteen (12 run) in the $35,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kgs. He has trained on nicely since a good third last start and as he likes to do will get home solidly from off the pace. Trainer Mark Walker sees No. 1 as the hardest to beat in the race.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R2 1 Hee's Ego (3 g Tale of the Cat - Quatro) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of ten in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on the turf and carries 57kgs. Off a break, he wound up nicely for third over 1100 metres on the poly track and should be ideally suited to extra distance on the turf.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R3 5 Prince Mag (6 g Zamindar - Princess D'Orange) - David Flores; drew barrier four of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 2000 metres on the turf and carries 54kgs. Although backing up a little sooner that ideal, Mark Walker feels he can run a handy race in a reasonably strong field.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 4 Appellation (3 g Pentire - Tattinger) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier two of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1400 metres on the turf and carries 53.5kgs. He has pleased the trainer in his work since a good last start effort for fourth. Drawing handily is a distinct advantage and the distance should suit, to be afforded a top four chance.

10.35 p.m. R10 2 Alpha Centauri (5 g Keeper - Country Rose) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 56kgs. He has pleased Mark Walker in training since his nose margin defeat last start and while any softening of the ground would help he still rates a top three prospect on the strength of his recent efforts.

11.05 p.m. R11 7 Hardcore Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) - Harry Kasim (a1); drew barrier three of eleven in the $60,000 Benchmark 67 1600 metres on the turf and carries 52.5kgs. Twice a winner on the turf, he worked home nicely, in tight quarters, over 1400m last time and should receive a favourable trip. Although quite a strong field, he is fit and well and comes in under a light weight.
